About this listen

Eve Dallas deals with a homicide - and the holiday season - in the latest from the #1New York Times bestselling author.

Personal trainer Trey Ziegler was in peak physical condition. If you didn't count the kitchen knife in his well-toned chest.

Lieutenant Eve Dallas soon discovers a lineup of women who'd been loved and left by the narcissistic gym rat. While Dallas sorts through the list of Ziegler's enemies, she's also dealing with her Christmas shopping list - plus the guest list for her and her billionaire husband's upcoming holiday bash.

Feeling less than festive, Dallas tries to put aside her distaste for the victim and solve the mystery of his death. There are just a few investigating days left before Christmas, and as New Year's 2061 approaches, this homicide cop is resolved to stop a cold-blooded killer.

Worth Reading Even if it's not Christmas!

So well written, had me flummoxed right until the very last chapter! Brilliant!

I love the regular characters and their personalities. I admire the way that Ms Roberts weaves them seamlessly into the narrative without it seeming contrived.

I will always read the novels in this series. It appeals to me on so many levels!

Enjoy!

She has done it again

Where does Festive in Death rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Once again a very enjoyable and engaging book from J D Robb. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to maintain such a high standard over a series of books now stretching to 39 but in this series she manages it magnificently.

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the interaction between the main characters. Trina has become a particular favourite and of course the unforgettable Mavis and Somerset.

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I think her voice particularly matches my opinion of what Eve should sound like and I am amazed by her ability to project so many different characters using only her voice. She is a joy to listen to.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

These books always make me feel a variety of emotions happy, sad, vastly entertained and enthralled. Eve's interaction with her police colleagues, particularly Feeney, is both sad and funny. Her horrendous early childhood evokes sadness but her determination to overcome it evokes admiration. Her dread of social occasions is amusing and the scene in which she accomplishes her Christmas shopping made me smile.

Any additional comments?

I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series which is due out next year. I prefer to have these books as audiobooks as I find the combination of the excellent story an extremely talented reader, Susan Ericksen, particularly good and both add to my enjoyment.

Fantastic Festive in Death

Would you consider the audio edition of Festive in Death to be better than the print version?

As I never bought the print version I could not say .

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favourite is peabody.
Peabody is just such a laugh with her muttered comments but she also has her serious side

Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favourite?

Again I have to say peabody .
Susan nailed the character of peabody I felt that she was in the room with us .

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I do not know as there is a lot you could come up with in this book.

Any additional comments?

I have all of J.D.ROBB IN DEATH SERIES and it is fascinating to see all the characters come together and to life
It is great that you have her books .

Enjoyable short story.

2023 AUDIBLE REVIEW
I forgot that scary Trina kicked of this book.
Loved the tattoo Trina put on Eve. So funny.
Enjoyable short story.
BOOK REVIEW
Entertaining and festive.
Entertaining, in that things are kept surprising, right till the end, even though you know fairly early on who Eve is looking at. Festive due to it being Christmas time.
No love lost for the victim this time, a disgusting excuse for a human being. But really sad about the second death.
I do hate that the nasty husband will get to benefit though. Pity he couldn’t be charge with something like, INTENT TO ILLIGALLY SOURCE SEXUAL SERVICES, or something like that. Just so he doesn’t benefit in any way.
Great personal and social time is enjoyed as Eve and Roarke throw their annual Christmas party. I really felt Christmassy and festive reading this. I loved the presents dished out by everyone, very thoughtful and suitable all around. I just wonder what Peabody bought Eve.
The drunk Santa in the lift scene was brilliant.
I have owned most of these books in paperback for years but now have them all in eBook format, so I am rereading this series once more in order, updating and replacing missing reviews.
Even knowing what is in the future, it is absolutely no hardship to reread this series and I am really enjoying how all the characters are growing emotionally and changing.
