Finalist for the 2023 AUDIE AWARDS® for Audiobook of the Year and Narration by the Author
Finding Me is the deeply personal, brutally honest account of Viola's inspiring life, from her coming of age in Rhode Island to her present-day career.
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever.
This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose and my strength, but also to finding my voice in a world that didn't always see me.
As I wrote Finding Me, my eyes were open to the truth of how our stories are often not given close examination. They are bogarted, reinvented to fit into a crazy, competitive, judgmental world. So I wrote this for anyone who is searching for a way to understand and overcome a complicated past, let go of shame and find acceptance. For anyone who needs reminding that a life worth living can only be born from radical honesty and the courage to shed facades and be...you.
Finding Me is a deep reflection on my past and a promise for my future. My hope is that my story will inspire you to light up your own life with creative expression and rediscover who you were before the world put a label on you.

I felt like I lived her story just by listening, her description felt real to me, someone who never experienced what viola did
Amazing memoir, I stand in awe of this great woman! Someone who has laid her bare soul to the reader or listener, Viola left nothing for your imagination. She really deserves all that she has and much more

Authentic journey that speaks to us all
I learned about what crushing poverty looks and feels like. And how one finds peace and pride in one’s past.

Very honest recount of a phenomenal human
I loved the brute honesty of this autobiography. I.e. her painful childhood. What I really loved the most was the confidence in her talent and how she says she is great like it is a matter of fact ( it most definitely is!). It is inspirational to see someone who’s voice was robbed or deemed unworthy time and time again, tell us how loving, emphatic, talented and WORTHY she has always been.

Well done to Viola
I am so proud of this woman of colour for her effort, determination and hard work. Her path has not been easy, she is not ashamed of her upbringing and has chronicled it well in her book. The book is well narrated, she has given us incite into the world of film making industry. It is not easy. I first saw Viola in Doubt and her performance was awesome.

Great insight into childhood trauma and poverty!
Beautifully narrated. A must listen/read!. Shines a light on how childhood trauma and poverty impacts differently on family members and shows that your start in life does not need to define who you become.
