Summary
Reigning CrossFit world champion Rich Froning is "the fittest man on Earth". He's fast, he's strong, and he's incredibly disciplined. But it takes more than physical strength to compete and win at an elite level. It takes incredible mental and spiritual toughness as well. And it is the precise balance of all three that makes Rich Froning a champion.
In First, listeners follow Rich as he trains for and competes in back-to-back CrossFit world championships. Along the way Rich shares invaluable training tips, motivational techniques, and spiritual insights that, in keeping with the CrossFit philosophy, will prepare you to respond to any real-life physical, mental, or spiritual challenge.

a little more god than I expected
Interesting story from a personal perspective but a little more god than I expected. I should mention I knew little about Rich except he'd won more crossfit games than anyone else.

Bland with too much god bothering
As other reviewers have mentioned, there is a fair amount of god bothering in this book. Fine, you go to church, no get on with the story. And that's the second failure. For an endurance book it felt bland and almost easy. "I did this then I did that and then the other thing". Yawn.

Great athlete, dull storytelling
He really wanted to like this book but gave up after four chapters because it was painfully boring and narrated with zero interest. Great for insomnia

Very flat, uninspiring, poorly delivered.
Very Flat, uninspiring, poorly delivered. Narration mirrors context. Stopped listening 2 hours in. One star.

I really wanted to like this......................
I almost never leave reviews but, felt I should justify my low ratings:
Having seen this guy on the Crossfit Games videos I really wanted to know more about him and his life but......................... It wasn't an exciting listen and the narration / story involved so many references to the WOD (work out of the day) followed by a long list of other abbreviations and technical details of the workout I quickly got bored. Rich is a proud Christian and I found his openness to praise God for his good fortune refreshing at first but, soon got tired of it.
Overall, he's a great athlete and I'm in awe of his prowess but, didn't really enjoy the listen.

Good Listen
I love Crossfit and im a big fan of Rich
bit to much God and religious talk but at tye end of the day Rich Froning is a big believer in his faith and God so you cant expect to listen/read a book about him and it not be in there.
