Summary

Flatlandia fu scritto nel 1888 da Edwin Abbott Abbott. Il racconto, fantastico, racconta la vita di un abitante di un ipotetico universo bidimensionale che entra in contatto con l'abitante di un universo tridimensionale. È un racconto che affronta da un punto di vista della matematica e della geometria il tema della multidimensionalità dell'universo. Ad una prima parte, in cui si descrive un mondo dalle vedute limitate e allusivo all’epoca vittoriana, segue una seconda parte in cui la mente del protagonista viene aperta e illuminata da un intervento superiore. Così anche la mente del lettore si apre agli interrogativi sulla quarta, quinta, sesta dimensione, e oltre....
