About this listen

Henry Grey doesn't particularly care for having been born the heir to an earldom. He is a reserved young man whose greatest problem is his mother's match-making plots and whose greatest joy is to ride as an amateur steeplechase jockey. But on a sudden impulse, he throws in his respectable desk job to join a firm which transports racehorses all over the world. Yardman Transport proves to be Henry's passport to many things, not the least the girl he loves, and a tidy little racket which brings him face to face with death.

Excellent story with plenty of action and drama.
Love all Dick Francis’s books and they are read unerringly well.

Gripping from start to finish.

Typical Francis at his best. Great story with plenty of twists and turns. TV? What TV!

An excellent story and a world class narrator

Not Mr. Francis' best work, (there are a lot of loose ends at the end) but a rollicking good read none-the-less. Once it got going I couldn't leave it and Mr Britton's expressive voice made the whole experience memorable.

An immersive read

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It was well written and took me inside the story. I feel so sad that the story is over. Can’t wait for the next book.

Incredible writing - always a first class winner,,

This is the 4th time I've read this book over a number of years and it's still one of those stories you just can't put down.

Another great story

First read the book many years ago but have greatly enjoyed being reacquainted with it. Tony Britton read it very well. First class.

excellent

having been a fan of Dick Francis for almost 20 years now, I whave read and re read all of his books. The narrative form has ticked every box, when reading we enter our own imagination. The narrator has his voices down to a tee. I throughly recomennd to any one. five stars.
