About this listen

When Mark McDonough was a teen, a catastrophic fire claimed the lives of his mother and younger brother. It also left Mark with burns on over 65 percent of his body. During a long and painful recovery, his faltering faith in God was strengthened by a remarkable near-death experience. Inspired to pursue a career as a plastic surgeon to help those who suffer as he has, McDonough has overcome numerous other adversities on his journey, including addiction and a stroke. Now he shares his incredible true story of survival and perseverance to bring hope and healing to those dealing with great physical and emotional pain.

Anyone who has suffered or watched a loved one suffer from a personal trauma, disease, or loss that has tested or stolen their faith and exhausted their emotional resources will find real hope in this redemptive story.

Healing and testimony

Astonishing pain and trials in life with deep understanding of what it means to stand firm and stand firm again in the face of adversity trusting in Jesus as our Saviour through intense trials throughout life. I felt Marks pain as he described the horrors of his pain and agony. It made me realise that whatever I endure in life Jesus is the answer to it all.

Compelling Account Told Well

I don’t often cry reading a book, but this one had tears flowing more than once. I’ve had some traumas in my life, but nothing in comparison. If only I’d read or listened to this book before maybe I’d have come through it quicker. I feel really blessed to have read this author’s account. I like the fact that he doesn’t brush over his mistakes and poor choices but made his story vulnerable in telling all. I shall be recommending this book to others, whether they have been through trauma or not. A worthwhile listen.
