Summary
WINNER OF THE HUGO AWARD FOR BEST ALL-TIME SERIES
The Foundation series is Isaac Asimov’s iconic masterpiece. Unfolding against the backdrop of a crumbling Galactic Empire, the story of Hari Seldon’s two Foundations is a lasting testament to an extraordinary imagination, one that shaped science fiction as we know it today.
Faced with determining the fate of the galaxy, Golan Trevize hesitantly chose to hand over the rule of the galaxy to planet Gaia. Two mysteries now remain: who has erased the records of Earth – and why?
Determined to ensure his choice was right, Golan sets off with Janov Pelorat and Bliss, to answer these questions once and for all. But nothing could prepare them for the secrets which await them on Earth. Secrets which predate history as they know it, and will change its significance forever…

Great end to series
Great story that leaves me thinking that Asimov was a master story teller before his time

Excellent
I have read and reread this book over decades and am still captivated by the story, the interpersonal relationships as well as astonished by the imagination that perceived the whole Foundation as well as Robot series, as well as the practical and philosophical obstacles that would be encountered, together showing a resolute and pragmatic future.
The narrator did an excellent job of creating distinctive characters as well as portraying the various emotional elements. Very enjoyable to listen to.
Asimov is a master in science fictional where he envisage a realistic future galaxy, with all its natural and practical problems, including the human problems faced in anytime frame
Although this book can be read/listened to as a stand alone, I would encourage anyone to start either the first Foundation book, or better still, the Robots books.
A truly amazing glimpse of a potential future.

Unexpected yet expected
Despite all the twists and turns this felt like fitting ending for a classic series!

A galloping ride to the conclusion of the Asimovs great saga
Although sometimes laboured by IA’s often superfluous detailed dialogue, it’s a fitting end to one of the great science fiction stories, brilliantly read by Hope.

A real treat
It’s many years since I first read the seven Asimov Foundation novels. Revisiting them, guided by William Hope’s excellent narration, has been a real treat. What a mind Asimov had! The source from which so many Sci-fi novels have since flowed.

Overall story good but extremely padded and repetitive
Like most Asimov books this was padded to the extreme.
Pelorat was the most irritating, repetitive, annoying and ridiculously stupid character and was the most annoying part of the book. The continual regurgitation of the same facts “logic chopped” to dear was tedious.
This book could have been half the length and a great book but was padded out and almost ruined.
Obviously I had to read it to finish the series but it was bloody hard work.

Doesn't stand up to time...
The character Golan Trevize is completely obnoxious (and therefore Asimov as clearly his personality is in this character) the character Janov Pelorat is a complete fool and quite unnecessary to the plot... narrative is good though.

Disappointing
I have enjoyed all the books in this series greatly but this, the last book, is pointless. The story line is thin and there is far to much waffling
