Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Foursome by Jane Fallon, read by Tracy-Ann Oberman.

Rebecca, Daniel, Alex and Isabel have been best friends since university. Rebecca married Daniel, Alex married Isabel and, for 20 years, they have been inseparable. But all that is about to change....

When Alex walks out on Isabel, Rebecca thinks things can't get any worse. But then she finds out the reason why and she's left harbouring a secret she'd rather forget....

And there's more upheaval to come in Rebecca's life as her emaciated, neurotic, self-obsessed colleague, Lorna - her arch nemesis at work - suddenly becomes a regular feature in her social life.

Rebecca's once-happy foursome is now a distant memory and with hearts broken and friendships fractured, it seems that change is never a good thing. Or is it?

Jane Fallon does it again

She always writes characters that you come to adore and is also a GENIUS at creating a delicious, dislikable anti-friend who you hope gets their just desserts. Great story exploring friendship. It had so many layers, I had to binge listen to find out what happened next.

And Tracey-Ann Oberman is a delightful narrator. Her voice is lovely and she translates the humour of the text perfectly.

I thoroughly recommend this - or any other of Jane's books

Great book

Just working my way through all Jane Fallon's books, I love them. She is so perceptive. Great narration too.

Narration volume jumps around annoyingly

I like to listen to books in bed at night but this book was a bit annoying as the volume of the voices went up and down too much. I also found the main character's voice had a sarcastic tone which is not my thing. that said, I persevered & enjoyed the overall story.

Fantastic narration.

The volume of narration goes up and disk a bit but the narrators voice and characters is excellent. Really fun book including parts I laughed out loud! Jane never let’s me down!

Easy listen

Easy to listen to. No real meat to the story and I didn’t like the twee ending. I like Jane Fallons books but this one did lack a bit of substance. That said I did enjoy listening to it and would buy her books again.

Not one of her best

The story was a pleasant easy listen but not with the usual fast paced ‘can’t put it down’ style usual to Jane Fallon, with all the twists. However the narration was great, such an interesting voice, and except for the end chapters where the characters all started sounding the same, made the book/listen more worthwhile and enjoyable.

Not Jane Fallon's best work

I don't feel this book had an awful lot of substance to it. Not a lot really happened. I would have liked a few plot twists and drama. It was good but usually with Jane Fallon books I'm constantly finding excuses during the day to get back to listening to them. I really enjoy the author's writing style but this isn't the best example of her work. The narrator was good and added a good touch of realism while she was reading, as if she was having a conversation instead of just reading from a book.

Enjoyable book, however

Good storyline, however the narrator's accents were terrible especially the Australia (I think it was meant to be).

Enjoyable, warm and funny

One of my favourite Jane Fallon’s so far. Engaging story with real warmth. Well drawn characters who are likeable but by no means perfect, compelling story although a little predictable at times this wasn’t necessarily a negative as it meant the story was developing in believable ways. Thoroughly enjoyed.
