Editor reviews

One of the most beloved and talented narrators to ever record a book, Frank Muller narrated over 200 audiobooks in his lifetime, from classics to contemporary best sellers, and won several awards in the process. Muller's jaw-dropping versatility is in full display here as he fully embodies characters, from George Smiley's weary and enigmatic demeanor to the crafty shrewdness of a Dickensian villain. After listening to this montage of Muller's best performances, listeners will find themselves agreeing with Stephen King's declaration that when Muller reads, "the blind will see, the lame will walk, and the deaf will hear."

What an absolute treat for the ears. What a loss.

If you could sum up Frank Muller in three words, what would they be?

Unique. Talented. Missed.

What other book might you compare Frank Muller to, and why?

Nothing can ever compare to Frank.

What does Frank Muller bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He's got to have been one, if not the, best narrators ever.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and this easily done due to it being only 15 minutes long.

Any additional comments?

Sadly Frank passed away in 2008, after being very unwell since a motorbike accident in 2001, and not only left behind a heartbroken family, but droves of saddened fans, and a huge talent that can never be equalled. Listen to this and you will be convinced you are listening to numerous narrators. A nice gesture from audible to make this available free, so thanks for that.

My favourite narrator

My favourite narrator. RIP Frank Muller. Great voice, easy to listen to. Loved him reading John Grisham's The Rainmaker.
