About this listen

Frida Kahlo was ahead of her time. She was bisexual and would have fit in perfectly in the time we live in now. Her disabilities would be acceptable in our society of today and her husband, Diego would probably be run out of town by the Real Housewives of “Cheaters”.

Frida came with a lot of baggage in her life starting when she was only six years old and even more baggage piled on when she was in high school. Her suffering was more than anyone can imagine but she kept her head held high and forged her way forward.

Inside you’ll hear about:

  • Frida’s birth and family
  • Frida and Diego begin their life together
  • Diego’s First Fight with Penile Cancer
  • Frida’s lovers
  • Frida was rotten to the core
  • A lifetime of Frida’s creations
  • A medical doctor’s perspective on Frida

And much more!

If Frida had not had a unibrow, waxed her upper lip, and shaved under her arms, she may have appeared more feminine than she did, and it may have given her more self-confidence. She never gave herself a chance because she felt it was her job to be the boy in the family.

AN INFORMATIVE LISTEN

Everything about this bio is surprising. So much interesting information was revealed throughout the whole audiobook, it seemed like it lasted for more than 22 minutes because it covered the most important events and tragedies. Examples of his music are also heard. The narrator is one of the best I've heard.

Excellent

It's the material that splits ordinary beings from deep thinkers, from Geniuses. I principally like that this product. The price bearing in mind the quantity and quality for this product is the key selling point and is really un-matchable with anything else out there.

wasted opportunity

Frida Kahlo history gives such an opportunity to discover a woman who challenged the stereotype by living her life as she wanted to, within the confined of her disabilities. This book is soulless and trite and quite frankly, belittling of this fabulous artist. At the start, the author spends time considering how Frida manages to snare so many lovers, given her physical appearance was ugly!! It reads as some 12yr old in a playground wondering how she's not been picked because she's much prettier than the girl who was. It's a trite and pathetic way to describe anyone, let alone a great artist, by the value of how they look. This book glosses over much of Frida's life, it returns again, and gives much to the physical appearance when describing her meeting Diego Riveira. This is such a poor history book, it's written in a clunky style and basically just lists events. It's a wasted opportunity, and in sure there are much better Frida books out there

Was expecting more depth..

Thought this was an actual book. Instead it was more like a light superficial outline of her life. Listened to entire piece while weeding my allotment.....I do know more about Frida but not much more.

Rubbish

Badly written and badly narrated. Perhaps the best bit is where the author reads out a list paintings.

Incredibly un-feminist

Frida Khalo is a feminist icon. This book represent some of the least feminist views of this icon I have heard. It starts by saying the author couldn’t understand how Frida had so many lovers as she was so unattractive and ends by suggesting if she waxed her eyebrows she may have made her life easier. In the middle there are some interesting facts about her life however I would not recommend this book at all.
