Fascinating and Compelling
The essential argument of this book is that the creation account in the first chapter of Gensis cannot be fiction. He goes into fascinating detail of the current scientific understanding of the origins if life and shows, quite convincingly, how closely it corresponds with the Genesis account. In doing so he reveals the "Genesis Enigma", that is how did it come about that the ancient Israelite authors of Old Testament writings could have come to such an scientifically accurate account? This time predates the scientific method as know it today today, so to have known the science or to have invented such a story by chance would be seemingly impossible.
The author's exploration of this Enigma is both fascinating and compelling and an excellent listen for anyone interested in natural history, biblical scholarship or anyone who wishes to understand better the Christian concept of the divine authorship of the Bible.
The author concludes his book by saying that the very first chapter, perhaps more so than any other chapter, demonstrates the hand of God at work the creation of the Bible. Of course. One has to decide for themselves whether they agree with this conclusion, but the case is compelling and at the very least, it's hard to dispute that book of Genesis is an Enigma in our modern times.

Surprising book
The author displays his deep knowledge of evolution comparing it with the biblical description of creation. Adding great historical and philological culture, he wrote a very pleasant book. Even though I cannot agree with the main thesis of this work (i.e.: Genesis concords with evolution), I really enjoyed it for the great amount of scientific informations and for the agreeableness of the writing. A very special mention for the narrator's voice.

Evolution and the first chapter of Genesis
If you could sum up Genesis Enigma in three words, what would they be?
A clear outline of evolutionary theory with a interesting take on the first page of the Bible. It was good to hear a balanced thoughtful presentation from an agnostic scientist.
