Tim Sledge was a Southern Baptist preacher and writer for 35 years. His pioneering work in faith-based recovery ministries in the '80s and '90s ultimately guided participants in 20,000 Christian support groups across the US.

Not for the fainthearted who love their faith.
This is an excellent book which, had it not been for the title, revealing the endgame, has an astounding outcome, given the honesty, sincerity and energetic way in which the writer was fully committed to a life of faith.
Ironically, he undoubtedly played a major role in many people's lives with his primary emphasis on support group activities, rather than faith based restoration.
There can be no doubt that all Christians experience the "exceptions to the rule of faith" as Tim did, at some stage in their lives, and must start wondering about the authenticity of it all.
Instead of questioning, people of faith typically keep looking for rare "exceptions in the rule of life" to confirm their Supernatural acquaintance.
Very few take the next brave step to search for the truth, due to the daunting idea of separation from the group that would occur.
There is so much pain in the author's journey and this likely prompted deeper thought and reflection, bringing him to his final conclusion.
Overall a brilliant book, revealing the stark, powerful deception of faith, practiced by millions, to be read by all who seek the truth more than the safety of the herd.
