Summary
A bizarre discovery.
An unidentified cadaver is found in a freezer in an unoccupied luxury house. No-one seems to know or care who it is or who placed it there. Best one yet
I love this series, great characters, captivating plot, interwoven with the landscapes and wildlife in a really evocative way and great narration too. This one’s the best so far. More please!

A gripping tale
The lead character is intriguing as is the setting around Dungeness. All the characters were well established and it was a credible plot. I loved it.

yet another good story
This is the second Cupidi novel I have listened to and I like the characters as well as the story. Again the story tackles a social problem within the investigation which adds to the overall content. I am so pleased I discovered this series. Will now go buy the best book.

Excellent
Excellent. I really enjoy spending time with Alex and her colleagues, Jill is a hoot! An intriguing story that reaches into the past and a couple of near misses for Alex. The badgers were quite interesting too. I will definitely be reading the next in the series.

Annoying cockney accents
This was an ejoyable read, but the narrator's decision to give the two main female characters bad cockney accents is really annoying. I actually checked the book itself to see if the characters were written that way, but on paper, they seem perfectly capable of saying "th" instead of "f".
Fings ain't wot they used to be.

Absolutely gripping
The Cupidi series novels seem to get better and better. Shaw is a brilliant writer who evokes the bleak but compelling landscape of Dungeness as vividly as he draws his characters. The plot was tight and flawless and keeps you guessing. I’m going straight to the next book. The narrator is masterly and she does complete justice to the work.

Great story, slight narration issue
Thought the book was great, but the narrator’s attempt at many of the male voices result in most of them sounding like the same sulky teenager

Brilliant badgers
Donald Trump and William Shaw share an interest in badgers. Any similarity in outlook stops there. The moral compass of Grave’s End, the brilliant 3rd (4th if you count The Birdwatcher) in the Cupidi / South series gets to the heart of rural development - the tension between conservation and growth, migration, politics, corruption and murder. It’s a grand story - Zoe is the star and we’re all rooting for Jill - grounded by the fascinatingly complex relationship between Cupidi and South: gentle men and ferocious women. And I learned lots about badgers! Brilliantly narrated by Jasmine Blackborow who can switch accents in a breath, but doesn’t overdo it.
