About this listen
A brand-new extreme horror novel from the twisted mind that brought you Woom.
Revenge is on the program at this year's Splatterfest convention!
Horror authors, critics, and fans from all over the world have gathered to share stories, enjoy each other's company, and to take part in the yearly Gross Out contest, a fan favorite.
But some attendees have arrived with ulterior motives. Clay Kayden, whose story at the last in-person Gross Out contest got him "canceled", wants to tear down the convention from the inside. Moira Mead is desperate to impress her favorite horror director, who's promised to option a story based on the weekend's readings. And Clay's former mentor, Guest of Honor David Ennis, just wants to find his muse again…no matter the cost.
In a weekend filled with violence and horror, no one will be spared from trauma, and only one author can reign supreme.
Gross Out features characters and situations from the novella Woom. While this not a direct sequel, it does continue Shyla and Angel's story from that fateful night in Room 6 of the Lonely Motel.
WARNING: Do not buy this book if you have a weak stomach, if you're easily disturbed, or if you're looking for a light horror listen. THIS IS NOT THAT BOOK. Seriously. You've been warned.

Grudge upon grudge
Wow, there are so many people in this story who want revenge upon someone. Anderson Ackerman definitely got what he deserved, Taylor and Ennis's story was a rather complicated affair, Taylor was not the only person with a grudge against Ennis, but he definitely took the worst revenge, Archie's revenge was rather more hilarious, until it suddenly became life or death and did not end particularly well for him or for a couple of other characters one of whom was pretty horrible and also got what she deserved.
The most irritating character award goes to Jackson, the self proclaimed 'hash-tag king', I'm surprised nobody decked him. I think I would have.
The most badly represented character award goes to Moira, poor Moira, not only is she given one of the most un-welsh names I can think of, but Joe, who does a pretty amazing job narrating generally, fails miserably with this 'welsh' accent, it really isn't, please don't try that again Joe, or practise, a LOT before doing it again, just reading with your usual voice would be better.

Quite enjoyed it!
To begin with: this is quite meta: it is a book about a gross out competition, done as a longform of a gross out competition entry lol.
Aside from that, it's quite fun to read if you're into that kind of thing.
Without any spoilers, it's a bunch of horror writers who come together each year at a convention, and some have grudges from last year's gross out competition, or some other history. And they take it out in this year's gross out.
Definitely recommended if you're into such things.

loved the audio
while I love the audio on this book I found the storyline lacking much depth. 2omb was 100% better

Most boring book ever
I was so excited to read the sequel to Woom, which had me HOOKED from the outset.
This story failed to capture me at all. Way too many characters, constant dialogue that was so boring I instantly forgot what I'd just read and could not keep up. Extremely slow development too with an escalated ending that was also subpar. If I could be reimbursed for time-lost reading this, I would be pursuing that claim.
Additionally - as someone living in the UK, not ONCE did the narrator nail the Welsh accent. I heard every accent under the sun but Welsh, which made it even harder to get into the book.

Awful
Considering that i enjoyed WOOM, this was bad. To many things going on, no overly shocking. Also the Welsh character read in an Irish accent was annoying
