Summary

The official novelization of the highly anticipated revamp of the classic horror film Halloween.

In 1978, Laurie Strode survived an encounter with Michael Myers, a masked figure who killed her friends and terrorized the town of Haddonfield, Illinois, on Halloween night. Myers was later gunned down, apprehended, and committed to Smith's Grove State Hospital.

For forty years, memories of that nightmarish ordeal have haunted Laurie and now Myers is back once again on Halloween, having escaped a routine transfer, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. This time, Laurie is prepared with years of survival training to protect herself, her daughter Karen and her granddaughter Allyson, a teenager separated from her family and enjoying Halloween festivities.

wow, wow, wow!

Absolutely amazing! The suspense kept me up literally all night. I didn't go to sleep until 07:00, until I'd finished the book. Scary, violent, and a damn good read. I haven't seen the film, but seriously thinking about it now. Only thing I wish, that we'd found out exactly what happened that night 40 years ago. As soon as it came up for pre-order, I grabbed it. Couldn't wait for it to come out. We've all heard of the nutorious Michael Myres if we're horror fans, even if we haven't seen the film. This was a finished in one sitting book. I hope we get 2nd book... Brilliant! Can't rate it high enough. I love horror, and this satisfied my cravings! If you love horror, read this!

Halloween 2018

I’m a huge fan of the original even went on a date when I went into see it. Now that was scary...the mother of all slasher films, maybe the first.

Although I enjoyed this book it’s not a mass of tingle, screaming situations which had me on the edge of my seat.

It’s really a standard bunch of instances which are quite predictable - lots of people die in various ways mostly on Hallowe’en.

I also felt that some of the choices made by some of the characters were just plain ...well stupid...rather like the female in one of the horror spoof films who has a choice at a cross roads A) go right to safety, police and family or B) go left certain death, serial killer. She of course goes left. I personally would be running in the general direction of off .. not investigating.

As an insomniac,I finished it overnight but I was left feeling kinda...meh! Mike Myers does what he does again and again.

The narration was exactly right for the book.

I don’t think I will be running out to see the new film on which this book is based rather I’ll go and dig up the Donald Pleasant version.

Competent novelisation of the film

Book of the film told mostly from the granddaughter (Alison) POV. The performance is adequate if nothing special. The book doesn't really add anything new to the film or add any new depth to it. It's just a straight forward, perfunctory but perfectly acceptable novelisation. Worth a listen if you like the film. Although you'd probably be better off just watching the film.

Good alt to watching

I was too scared to watch so really enjoyed the audiobook. I was thoroughly spooked and I was really captivated. Really good. The narrator was hit and miss

Halloween

I was looking forward to hearing this, but I was disappointed. The narrator rarely provided any tension and it was difficult to distinguish between some of the characters.

The Shape walks

Asbig a fan as I am for the Halloween franchise, I feel nothing beats hearing it. The little added details, or different monologue that varies from the film franchise adds a whole new level to this superb character created by John Carenter and Debra Hill all those years ago.

Nice to hear the story after watching the movie. Has some extra scenes which were interesting to hear.

Just boring!

I had high expectations and it was just boring. I was on about chapter 12 and wondering when the story was going to start. I would not recommend!

Enjoyable!

Massive Halloween fan and enjoyed this novelisation. Just left with the nagging question as to why Laurie was so remiss as to have missed the fact her heavily bolted door could be opened by just smashing the window and reaching through🤣

The worse narration I have ever had to endure

I have been on here for over 10 years and have listened to hundreds of books. Maybe I have been spoilt but I had to give up 6 hours in due to the awful narration. No tone, depth, voice change, suspense, life! The list of everything wrong in the narration goes on. If you think this person is good then your bench mark is low enough to enjoy any other audible book on offer - so that’s a good thing I guess..
The story itself is okish if you like Scream style books/films. It’s lacking in a real plot or an an ability to scare.
