Summary
'It is an axiom of behavioural science that vampires are territorial while cannibals range widely.'
Hannibal killed nine people before he was caught. And five on his escape. Two of his victims survived - one of them is in an asylum; but the other craves revenge.
Mason Verger, a paraplegic confined to a respirator since his encounter with Dr Lecter, can move only the fingers of his crippled right hand across the soft blanket that covers his lifeless body. But Verger is very rich and very influential, and his reach extends into the echelons of power around the world.
His need to find Lecter is insatiable. In Clarice Starling he has the perfect bait. As gripping and terrifying as any reader or listener of Silence of the Lambs would expect. Simply unforgettable.

Enjoyed this, struggled with some of the narration
Really good book, enjoyed the story. Most of the narration is excellent. However I couldn't understand what Mason Verger was saying and found this very offputting. The rest of the book was good enough to make me stick with it, but it was a bit of a shame.

Twists and turns all through. A surprising end.
I'm not going to give spoilers. I will say that if you've seen the movie then you haven't got to the end of the story. Surprises abound in this, the last of, the Hannibal Lector tale.

Richly detailed... Shame about the narration.
The story is fantastic and a great continuation of the Hannibal thread. It's rich in descriptive details that enhance your imagination throughout. The one letdown was the narrator. After listening to southern tones of the readers in Red Dragon and The Silence of the Lambs, it was very jarring to be subjected to the american/British accent of this narrator, so much so that at times it took me away from the story because I started to think about that instead. The pace was completely correct but the tone was not right. For me it let it down.

brilliant book. terrible narration
I love this book. The story is dramatic, engaging, exciting and varied. Alas, the narration is none of these things. Bland, monotone, and robotic. I could not bear to listen any longer.

Amazing book spoiled by mumbling
If you love Thomas Harris's other books then you will love this unfortunately it is spoilt by the performance as Masons character is mumbled and hard to understand it still does not take away from the book and writing

Much more complex than the film
I’ve started listening to novels that have inspired films and in many instances, I’ve preferred the book versions. Books have more more space to give nuance to characters that can be one dimensional in films. In this book, motivations are explored abd explanations given to plots twists that are often baffling or ludicrous. I lived the films of Hannibal but I’m now off to listen to the book versions.

Excellent
Excellent end to the trilogy, very good narration, except some of the speech from Mason. Which at times was very difficult to understand.
Overall a very good performance.
