Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

It should have been the best night of the year...

But she never came home.

It's New Year's Eve. The best night of the year.

As old friends the Wiksells and the Anderssons raise their glasses, their teenage children host their own party across town, finally free to let loose.

But the next morning, seventeen-year-old Jennifer Wiksell is missing.

The hours tick by. The police get involved. And no one knows who to trust.

These two families have a lot to hide.

Could the answer to Jennifer's disappearance lie close to home?

Another Really Enjoyable Impulse Purchase

Finished this impulse purchase last night and overall, found it really enjoyable. It's a really good Swedish noir psychological thriller. Well written characters brought to life, by a formidable trio of experienced Audiobook narrators.

This book does cover a lot of ground in a very short time. However I found the general pacing of the book to be very irregular and frustrating for the majority of the time. That being said, if like me you enjoy the work of Paula Hawkins and Lisa Jewell; this book is for you.

Atmospheric and emotional Swedish crime

I chose this after seeing the author Will Dean post about months before it’s release. I popped it on my wish-list and I really enjoyed it. If you like Dean’s books, or Scandinavian crime writers such as Hørst, Nesbø or Mankell then you’ll like it. It’s quite a small story, self contained in a southern Swedish town, but the pressure builds nicely and it feels very real. Good narration from three voice actors. I don’t usually go for multiple narrators but they take turns here from one chapter to another- each portraying the perspective of different character- rather than a dramatisation with everyone involved in the dialogue full-time.
