About this listen

Isabella Snowley knows full well that her family are on the brink of ruin, which is why she must try to stop her brother from getting himself killed in a silly duel. Tracking down the aloof Earl of Colbourne and asking him to withdraw made perfect sense when she formulated the plan. But standing in a dark street at four o'clock in the morning has quickly shown Bella her foolishness.

Duncan Ash, Earl of Colbourne, is used to having unmarried women throw themselves at his feet in the vain hope that he might marry them, and it has given him a distaste for the ton. So when he stumbles across a young woman out alone in the middle of the night begging for an audience with him, he can only think the worst of her.

A few minutes in the company of Bella Snowley, however, convince him that he has just encountered a creature out of the common way, and that pursuing his acquaintance with her might even justify a foray back into the world of the beau monde.

With everything set against them, Bella and Duncan find out that falling in love can be surprisingly easy with someone who can make you smile. But, sometimes, life can conspire against you. Those with an interest in the fortunes of the Snowley family might have quite a different fate in mind for Bella and make her choose between her own happiness and that of the family she loves so much.

This story is rather weak …

This time I found the story rather week and unrealistic-
For many reasons - as we must not forget what period in time we are when listening to this story

But as always it was very well presented !

I look forward to listening to the next book … let’s see what it shall be like 👍

3.5 Stars

A light and heartwarming story. I just wish that the narrator sounded more natural and that her male voices were less ponderously pompous.

V. Good

An entertaining and charming Regency romance. I listened to this in one go and enjoyed it a lot.
I loved the characters in this book and I thought that the narrator did a good job of bringing them to life.

Getting better each book

I am devouring this Regency Romp series! This is the third book in the series and it is the most like a Georgette Heyer book so far. It has humour, intrigue, scandal, rogues, charming ton and a fantastic story line. Very highly recommended!!

Great Regency Read

Loved it! Bella has so much spunk and isn't willing to lay down and let her family fall into ruin. She's such a strong character and you can't help but cheer for her and love her story. Overall such a great listen. Love the regency era books and this one certainly didn't disappoint!

Ok story, awful narration

Narration is just awful. The story may have been Ok for a relaxing listen but could get past the first few chapters due to the dire narration. In no way compares to a Heyer novel.
