About this listen
Joel Reading was lonely.
Nineteen years old, estranged from his family, and seemingly unable to ever get a second date, he'd surrounded himself with the things he loved most: old books and old music.
When one date got out of hand before it even began, Joel found himself displaced from a flooded apartment and on the doorstep of a handsome and older stranger more than willing to take Joel in for the night.
Gabriel Hunter had waited years for the right man.
When a distressed Joel showed up at his door needing a place to stay, it was more perfect than Gabriel could ever have hoped for. He quickly found himself falling for the complex and beautiful boy he welcomed into his house and started to believe in a future with the young man he adoringly called Little Red.
Unfortunately, Gabriel was a man of many secrets, and they threatened to unravel the delicate relationship he was building with Joel.
Would Joel be able to see beyond Gabriel's deliberate omissions and give their love a chance, or would Gabriel's kind of love prove to be more than Joel could handle?
The Lonely Hearts Stories are interconnected stories that weave characters together across the releases. While you would appreciate the characters and their journey by starting from the beginning, these can be listened to as stand-alones.

A Very Unique Love Story
I almost want to tag this one as humor. It takes two very unique people to make this love story work, and these guys are definitely unique. But it works for them, and Kate Hawthorne made it work for me.

as great as the ebook
The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Kenneth Obi is one of the 3 narrators (so far), I can listen without break and have no problems to follow. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening, but not more then twice a year.
it's like a B

Somewhere to belong
Baby J and Athena is a pairing I loved, specially when they were given a voice by Kenneth Obi, he brought them to life and each character beyond them had a voice of their own. Clear and distinctive.
While this is the kind of story I enjoy, it lacked just the little extra to be what I truly wanted. But it's a kind of sweetness to have so much care and love for someone that you run their whole life behind the scenes to keep them safe.

Surprising, Intense and Passionate.
Full of intense emotions, some of which are dark and painful. Both are hated and rejected by their families for being Gay. Full of twists that I never saw coming, but i was so intrigued and invested in their story that I never stopped listening till the end credits rolled.
