Good Effort
This audiobook, comparatively short, almost clear does its most useful and should reasonably be the opening point for those wishing a digestible overview of China’s long history, and it works manfully to leave the fact from the myth, no simple task!!!

Easy to follow
This audiobook was easy to understand and very clear.
The pronunciation of Chinese words and place names bothered me a lot as it seems that no thought or research had gone into finding out how to pronounce them and instead they were just read in an incorrect anglicised way.

Very informative
Really enjoyed this book. The narrator was so easy to listen to, and the information was kept engaging. Very informative but was slightly biased to western views of China. May have been improved by more time spent on the modern history of China; the cultural revolution, student protests and Xi’s current rule felt a bit rushed. But it depends on what aspects of history you’re interested in.

GOOD GUIDE
For a body going to China for the first time, it is a great start to Chinese history and culture. It offers a view and provides a background for everything you might see in China.

Okay, but with some minor inconsistensies.
this book is a good starter, a general overwiev of chinese history, although it doesn't go as deep as I would have liked. Some parts get a long explanation, while others get only a short summary. For example, the Great Leap Forward only got a few sentences and I feel like they missed a lot of interesting history there.
The editing wasn't superb, there where some mistakes in reading that should have been edited out that's still in there.
And the Narrator did an overall good job with all chinese names and places but I just could not get over that he called Mao Zedong "Moe" Zedong. It made me think of Moe from the Simpsons the whole time.
I will look for a more in-depth history book.
