Summary
An astonishing, richly interwoven story from number-one best-selling author Joanne M. Harris (The Gospel of Loki, Chocolat).
Long ago and far away,
Far away and long ago,
The world was honeycomb, we know,
The worlds were honeycomb.
The beauty of stories is that you never know where they will take you. Full of dreams and nightmares, Honeycomb is an entrancing mosaic novel of original fairy tales from best-selling author Joanne M. Harris. Dark, gripping and brilliantly imaginative, these magical tales will soon have you in their thrall.
Each original tale is a small piece of the larger picture - a clue or a message, a theme, or a warning - interwoven with the tale of the Lacewing King as he travels the worlds and encounters a multitude of characters: a toymaker who wants to create the perfect wife, a princess whose heart is won by words, not actions, a tiny dog whose confidence far outweighs his size and the vengeful Spider Queen and deadly Harlequin....
Press play, and be swept up in the adventure.
Perfect for fans of Sandman, The Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye, Piranesi and The Midnight Library, this tour de force is a beautiful achievement, from two exceptional creators at the top of their game.

A magical mystery tour through the seven worlds
I love this book. I was fascinated by the Lacewing King and all the characters involved, and all their adventures as well as the other short stories in between. I enjoyed the experience of the author herself reading the work, as I felt she could do so intuitively. The music too brought an extra dimension. I feel lucky to have discovered this book, and grateful for the imagination it has created in my mind.

Beeautiful
I was hooked almost at the beginning of the book. Wonderful concept. Lots of intricate details like the labyrinth itself but all comes together beautifully 🐝👑

Childhood dreams are revien.
Even from the first chapter, this book has fully captured my mind. Every little story was wonderful and lovely, and I grew from disliking the Lacewing King to loving him in the end. Rarely does anything nowadays bring me back to those nostalgic childhood joys of dreams and fairytales, but this book made me feel just as excited as I was for stories such as these when I was a little girl, and for that, it has become one of my top five favourite books in the world. I wish I could hear it for the first time again. ♡

As delicious as honey
Quirky, beautiful interwoven tales that take the reader on a delightful journey through the land where Psyche reigns. Here lies despair, cunning and fear and how to overcome it. Here is love, hope, courage and all wrapped up in the quirky characters and divine prose. A treat, as sweet and nuanced as honey itself.

Narration poor
Stories were beautiful but I couldn’t get past the third story as I struggled so much with the narration .

This book was an absolute feast of magic.
I always feel so privileged when Joanne Harris opens up the landscape of her mind, and allows The Folk in.
She has always felt a bit fae around the edges.
We are all of us alive on this earth at the same time as a truly great weaver of stories.
This book is a collection of interlocking fairy tales.
I grew up in the 80’s, and I can remember listen to fairy tale’s on LP’s. They were dark and twisted, and punctuated with little bursts of music, just like this.
I also have this book in hard back. The illustrations are done by Charles Vass, and are beautiful; he is like a modern day Arthur Rackham.

Brilliant!
Clever, fizzing with ideas, a set of neatly interlocking fairytale type stories which creates a whole new mythology. I loved it.
