About this listen
This cozy mystery bundle features the first five books in the Hope Hadley series.
Books in this bundle include: Fame Is a Killer, Fishing for a Murderer, Murder of a Yoga Instructor, Drowning in Deceit, and A Not So Merry Christmas Murder.
Hollywood actress Hope Hadley doesn't think that things can get any worse for her. In the last 24 hours, her boyfriend has broken up with her, and her long-running police procedural TV show has been canceled.
When a homicide detective shows up at her door the next morning with news that her ex-boyfriend has been murdered, she realizes that her troubles are just beginning.
She is shocked - not only to learn of her ex's death but also to find out that the police consider her to be a suspect in the killing. Hope soon realizes that the only way to clear her name is to find the real killer herself.

My Honest Review
Hope Hadley is the modern day Jessica Fletcher, she knows what she wants and goes for it, even solving the crimes as quickly as Jessica does.
Worth a read if you enjoy quick quirky stories

Hope you enjoy this set too
I enjoyed this box set of books, as they are a nice simple cozy with plenty of suspects (and doughnuts).
Fame is a killer
Hope's tv career has just come to a crashing halt when the show she has been a star of for seven years is axed by the net work. To top it all off her boyfriend has just told her is in love with a younger actress. After all that it is no wonder why when he turns up dead they look no further than Hope for the killer. It is a good job Hope played a detective on tv because she will have to put all the skills she learnt to good use and find the killer.
Fishing for a murder
Hope has given up on acting and moved back to her home town, to run a dog rescue shelter. But playing a tv detective comes in handy when Hope's detective brother looks at Pagie, one of Hope's employees, for the murder of her cheating boyfriend. Hope never liked him but that doesn't stop her from fishing out his killer to clear her friends name.
Murder of a yoga instructor
After nearly being killed Hope doesn't feel like herself and when chocolate doesn't help she tries yoga only to find the instructor dead on his yoga mat. Throwing herself back into another murder mystery proves to be just what she needs and it isn't long be she and her brother are tracking down suspects and questioning a killer.
Drowning in deceit
Hope day isn't off to a good start when she wakes up to find a crocodile trying to climb through her doggy door but things really goes down hill when the pool cleaner is found floating in his pool. Hope is once again questioning suspects but it is not until one of the suspects is killed that she finds the one clue that will help her get her confidence back to solve this case.
Not so merry Christmas
The festive holiday tradition of putting up lights grounds to a halt when one of Hope's neighbours is killed with his own lights Sending Hope and her brother once again on the trail of a killer who thinks he has got away with murder. Was it the flashing lights that sent someone over the top or had one of his affairs come back to haunt him? One thing is for sure someone will be spending there Christmas in jail.
I liked the narrator, she was nice and bubbly, so kept the stories interesting.

4 well-deserved stars
The narrator was good, solid, with a pleasant voice. Not too irritating. (Maybe you think it’s strange for me to mention it like this, but I’ve heard some irritating voices when I was listening to samples!)
The story was fun. Lighthearted. Likeable main character. But there was one thing that bothered me and that was that the author felt the need to describe the feelings of Hope like this (example, quote): “I was beside myself.” And “I became exasperated.” That should be worked into the story differently. Let that feeling be clear in another way, let those words speak for themselves. This is not how a real person would talk. So my advice is: show, not tell. Another example, when talking to someone else, Hope says: “He heard enough.” How could she know? It’s not his POV.
The case was good. Easy to follow, not easy to solve, and I liked the way Hope went about solving the case. Very methodically and I really liked that! A pleasant listen. 4 well-deserved stars. I’m looking forward to hearing more.
So far, I only listened to the first story, Fame is a Killer. I’ll edit my review once I’ve read more.

Repetative
Putting these five books together only succeeded in highlighting how alike they were.
Hope and her brother start off investigating seperately but by book 3 he is fed up saving her and they team up to unmask murders in a style remicent of scooby doo.... "if it wasn't for u pesky kids"
Perhaps a 4 book break was required between each.
