Summary

A new winter holiday, enemies-to-lovers romance, from the undeniably funny and always spicy, USA Today bestselling author, Meghan Quinn.

Every Kringle in Kringletown loved Christmas a lot.

But Cole Black on Whistler Lane, unfortunately did not.

Cole was a recluse during the Kringle Christmas season.

No one knew why, no one could quite give a reason.

Martha said it was because he was alone and very single.

Mae believed it was because he was never named the town Kringle.

But to me, the reason is a storyline far too sad.

For at the age of eighteen, he lost both mom and dad.

Whatever the reason, his parents or being single,

He spends Christmas in the dark, hating the cheery people of Kringle.

A fun time

Did I see this book was a Grinch-themed rom-com and not be able to resist? The answer is yes. The Grinch movie has a special place in my heart, due to some wonderful memories. So of course, I had to dive into this.

We are in a Christmas town, we have Storee and Cole. Cole is grumpy, Storee is all sunshine. They re-meet, so they knew each other before, and he is not happy. Kinda enemies to lovers because he is like I don’t want anything to do with her, and she tries to make a joke which doesn’t go over very well, and things get a little bit heated. There is also a Christmas tradition of finding the most Christmassy person, and Storee aunt, who she is there to take care of, wants to win so she makes Storee do it on her behalf. And when Cole finds out, he is not a happy camper and enters just so he can stop her from winning. We see them become rivals and battle it out through all sorts of Christmas activities. Atlas (Max) Cole’s best friend is always on hand to stoke the fires of this rivalry. There are some hilarious moments in these competitions. It was so much fun.

When I found out it was a full cast with Vanessa Edwin and J.F. Harding, Robert Hatchet and Emma Wilder. Also with Shane East as the narrator. I was excited to listen, and it did not disappoint.
The performances in this are fantastic. I adore Vanessa, I think she is brilliant. I absolutely love the way she performs Storee. She has that kind of sarcastic-y attitude, and paired with J.F. Harding. There was not a better person to play Cole than J.F. Harding. The nuances of his past experiences and how he’s not really processed that and the vulnerability of that teamed with the grumpy, hatred he has for Storee and seeing how that changes…so good. And you bring in Robert Hatchet as Max. I don’t have the words. It was hilarious, and again, I don’t know that anybody else could have done that justice the way that Rob did. And then we add Emma Wilder. The excitement I felt when I heard Emma was on this project! I absolutely love Emma, and she is playing a more stern, I’m the good sister, the one that knows what they’re doing. At first, I was like where is my happy Emma but as it went on, it was clear it was perfection casting. The way the lines were kinda deadpan was phenomenal and seeing that change in the sister’s relationship.
The way Shane East performed this narrator role was fantastic. It might be my favourite thing he’s ever done. It was so fun. The whole production was so good.

I did feel like the epilogue cut short, and I would have liked a little more. And some of the competition stuff could have been a little cut down.

Absolute Genius from Meghan Quinn ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was absolutely brilliant!! Laugh out loud funny, very spicy in later chapters (usual slow burn build up, that is one of Meghan's trademarks), with lots of Romance and Christmas Fun too.
The breaking of the fourth wall between Cole and the Narrator/Writer is genius, and I loved it!!
The Multicast Duet style narration is pure joy, and I will absolutely be listening to this again in December. One of my absolute favourite audiobooks of the year so far, and I listen to A LOT of them!! 😂❤️🎄

A Delightfully Exceptional Story & Listen🎧

This novel is absolutely amazing, a holiday story that will outshine all others, one that will captivate your attention and put a smile on your face the entire time. Meghan Quinn has outdone herself with the witty dialogue, which is brilliant and so are the chapters poetic starts, which lift your mood and holiday spirits even more. Storee Taylor and her sister went to stay with their great aunt Cindy who lives in Kringle Town, where it is Christmas year round while she recovers from her injury. The town steps it up for the holidays with a contest every year for the residents of Kringle to compete in. Storee’s aunt usually took part in the competition, but she’s hurt, so she asked Storee and her sister to do it for her. Cole Black lives next door to Storee’s aunt, and he remembers Storee very well, even crushed on her, but not all he remembers is good, especially the last he saw of her. He lost a lot back then, and never really recovered from those losses. Thankfully, he had a good friend, Max, and his family, helped him out. Cole’s first run in with Storee was hilarious, though she did not understand all his angst, but she kept going with busting his chops. When Cole finds out Storee and her sister are entering the Christmas Kringle contest, it puts a fire under him to enter the contest, one he never entered before despite the residents urging him to, but he preferred hiding out during the holidays and being a Scrooge. So is in and with the help of his friend Max goes head to head with Storee and her sister. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all plays out, with plenty of drama, humorous dialogue and shenanigans, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn but so worth the wait romance. Meghan Quinn, thank you for this wonderful story, the laughs and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the splendid narration, a multi-cast production, Meghan Quinn chose the perfect cast to bring her characters and story to life. Performing the roles of the two lead characters are J.F. Harding as Cole Black and Vanessa Edwin as Storee, with Robert Hatchet and Emma Wilder playing the support roles and Shane East as the storyteller at the top of the chapters and some hilarious dialogue with Cole. These mega talented voice artists did an amazing job portraying the characters, humanizing them with their voices and personality, capturing all their emotions and having you feeling each one. Their talent and voices complemented each other and their performance elevates this already brilliant story to another level. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Getting into the holiday spirit with a smile!

Get ready to laugh. Get ready for Christmas! This is the perfect listen to put you in a good mood! Meghan Quinn had me smiling at work, yes at work, with a narration with a spin on How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Each chapter starting with a rhyme, leading to the second chance romance for Storee and Cole. This small town holiday story has Storee competing against Cole in the Christmas Kringle contest. Each having an unknown crush on each other when is school, the two find themselves as the sweetheart couple, faking a relationship until feelings do get in the way. But how does it affect the contest? Well, I am not telling. This is fun and flirty, small town nosy and romantic and has me wanting it made into a Lovemark movie!!! Quinn has a fantastic story here and one create the best holiday spirit!

And bringing this all alive is a cast of phenomenal narrators. Shane East is the narrator of the story, always bringing a laugh out! Vanessa Edwin and JF Harding are the Storee and Cole, bringing out all the feelings and all the fun! Then bringing it all together is Robert Hatchet and Emma Wilder, with secondary character excitement, from good advice to crazy antics. Loved this collaboration, it truly made it a listen to remember.
