Ramesh Kumar grew up deprived and unloved, working on his father's tea stall in the Old City of Delhi. Now, brilliant but poor, he makes a lucrative living taking tests for the sons of India's elite. When one of his clients, the sweet but hapless eighteen-year-old Rudi Saxena, places first in the All Indias, the national university entrance exams, Ramesh sees an unmissable opportunity.
Cashing in on Rudi's newfound celebrity, all goes well for both boys for a while. But Rudi's role on a game show leads the boys through a maze of crimes both large and small, and their dizzying journey reveals an India in all its complexity, beauty and squalor.

So vivid and entertaining- took me right to the heart of the underside of India
The book successfully pokes through the paradoxes that is India via a rather tall and yet believable story. The insights can be uncomfortable but they are delivered with wry humour that had me laughing out loud at times. Its story may be set in modern day India but it’s themes are universal. No wonder it’s already been optioned for a film. Very entertaining.
The reader manages to convey the numerous characters with authenticity and colour as well as capturing the tone of the story.

Great, funny, easy listen
The ending not as strong as the rest of the book, however still a real pleasure.
