Mayan Modern Struggle
When you think of Mayan you think of Tulum or Tikal but I listened to this as I travelled through Guatemala and learned first hand that Maya is a living culture. This astonishing biographical history explains that freedom fighters can be judged terroists by the prevailing authorities and details of the discrimination the Mayans have been subjected to for centuries. I listened in 2023 as the anti-corruption president elect was waiting to take office. I can only hope that Mayan people get justice and equality in their amazing and beautiful country.

Harrowing but worthwhile story
Narrator didn’t know how to pronounce some of the Spanish words which was a shame. I’m also not sure it benefitted from presumably copying Rigoberta Menchú’s accent.
