Summary

My father sold me to his enemy.

He stole my innocence—right after he dressed me in white and made me vow to be his for all of eternity.

Now I’m cut off from my family.

Subjected to my husband’s warped rules and laws.

At the mercy of a tyrant who leers at me with green heated eyes until I beg him for things I shouldn’t.

Every day, I promise myself I’ll grow stronger and resist the urge to appease him.

It’s a losing battle I can’t win.

All I want is to love him, but I tell myself not to be foolish.

After all, a monster will never love.

He’ll only go deeper into his sinister ways.

Illicit Monster is book four of Mafia Wars Ireland. It’s an arranged marriage, enemies to lovers, age gap, dark mafia romance.

Loving this series!

I love the Mafia Wars series and how Maggie Cole intertwines earlier books in the series to the current story. This book features Tynan and Maeve and this enemies to lovers story is suspenseful and passionate! Tynan and Maeve's father make an arrangement for payment of a loan and Maeve's hand in marriage is the currency. Now married against her will, these two begin to forge their new path. But it's not that easy. Not only does she initally not want to be an O'Connor, but her gambling addicted father also has a contract with the O'Leary's for the same payment. This will not bode well as the O'Connors and O'Leary's are not friends. With cameos by previous characters, I really enjoyed seeing Tully again! His gruff exterior is still there with his teddy bear heart. This book flew by, with a spicy and passion filled love and the underlying threat of what was to come next. I loved it!

Aaron Shedlock is a favorite, and he pulls out the Irish brogue for this one. Love his take on Tynan's personality, with the alpha protectiveness and warm heart. Felicity Cole is Maeve and she keeps her stubbornness strong yet has her slowly giving in all with inflections. These two were a great team and made the listen a pleasure to hear.

What an amazing experience ...

If you have not yet listened to this audiobook, please do so. This is Tynan and Maeve’s story. How beautifully does this story opens and heals the old wounds, brings the truth in the forefront, clarifications are made and path to redemption is carved. The sacrifices of Maeve and the love of the family and the dedicated alpha hero. Off the chart .... This is magnificently brought out by the narrators, brilliant presentation.. Loved every bit of it...

Dark Mafia Romance

Illicit Monster by Maggie Cole is a dark mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Aaron Shedlock and Felicity Cole. This is the fourth book in the Mafia Wars Ireland series.

I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Tynan and Maeve. I loved the push and pull between them. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Aaron and Felicity did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you're looking for a dark romance, mafia romance, enemies to lovers romance, age gap romance, or arranged marriage romance.

More Mafia Wars Greatness~Amazing Story & Listen🎧

Maggie Cole pens another fantastic novel set in her “Mafia Wars Ireland” series. I am loving this Mafia world she created, from the original series featuring the Russians and then the Irish, set in Chicago, to the New York mafia families and then to Ireland with the rivalry between the O’Connor and the O’Leary clans. This fourth book is Maeve Fitzpatrick and Tynan O’Connor’s story. We met Maeve in an earlier book and she had gotten herself in trouble because of her loser of a father, though she redeemed herself in the end. Her father continues his bad habits and builds up another gambling debt. When it is time for him to pay his debt, he has nothing to pay them and, as usual, he depends on Maeve to bail him out. And this time, the only thing he could use as payment was her, and she had to go along with it to save her father’s life, and that is how she married a monster. Tynan was the debt collector and since his father wanted him to marry, he thought Maeve would do. It was great to watch these two navigate their new relationship. I thought they were great together and for each other. The chemistry between them was electric, and she gave as good as she got, learning quickly how to play him and get her way. As always, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. The story has the perfect balance of drama, angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. It was great to see some familiar faces from earlier books too. Maggie Cole, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Aaron Shedlock and Felicity Cole do a wonderful job bringing these characters to life and the story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and believable, accents and all. Shedlock and Cole’s voices and performance complimented each other’s. Shedlock nailed it as Tynan, playing the perfect bad arse alpha boss. Cole played Maeve’s role with perfection too, grasping every aspect of her persona. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

what a ride this entire Mafia Wars compilation has been

Another great addition to the series. I don't know if this book brings the Mafia Wars story to its completion, we'll have to wait and see. This entire series is one I have repeatedly checked back on over and over again waiting for the next book to be released. Right from the very start with Ruthless Stranger I've loved each and every book, every couple and every journey they have taken in order to get their HEA. As in different people's experiences of life, these books too are different, some books have been darker than others, some more harrowing but each have brought all the feels and the spice. I encourage anyone starting out on this journey, if you can, to start at the very beginning, you won't be disappointed. Its rare that I contemplate returning to a book or series to listen to it again but I will definitely be doing that with Mafia Wars. Thanks for the ride Maggie, I've enjoyed every minute.
