About this listen

Very well read. Ideal for learners of German. Can see why the Nazis banned it - it describes the conditions of war so accurately.

Excellent Narration

Really easy to listen to, particularly if you're a non-native speaker. Good pace, read clearly.

Nice to learn German with and good narration

I was looking for something more challenging and less boring than the standard dialogues in my German course book. A colleague recommended this book to me. I generally don’t like war related stuff, but the colleague insisted :D Just finished listening to it and like it very much. The narration is clear, at a good speed and pleasant to listen to. Can’t rate the story 5 star, because I can’t understand everything, yet :D From what I could understand, I can imagine why it was banned during the war... It’s interesting to hear about the live at the German side.

Powerful, mesemerising

Having read this book ages ago, and now listening to it with August Diehl's excellent interpretation of the text, I am astounded at how the gripping this seminal text of 20th century literature is. Quite contrary to expectations this is one of the best purchases I have made and helps one to understand not only the First World War in all its horror, but helps one to understand the seismic events that have shaped our world today. Superb.
