About this listen

When you think on the mysterious, the uncanny, the unexplained - one name comes to mind: Houdini! Dark Adventure Radio Theatre celebrates Houdini’s enduring legacy with a special tale from Houdini himself as told by master storyteller H.P. Lovecraft. Journey with us back to a time before the war, as Houdini searches for his next great illusion in exotic Egypt. His quest to master the Orient’s mysteries leads him to temples deep beneath the desert sands, and into the clutches of fearsome Bedouins. Not even the great Houdini can escape the thrilling and horrifying secrets which have lurked for untold millennia under the pyramids in “Imprisoned with the Pharaohs”!

Short but good

Very short but well done. Very much worth listening to. I’m not sure how much it ties in with original.

A rare miss

I've enjoyed most of these, crafted with great pulp attitude and flair. But this one was was a rare miss, focused so much on Houdini the actual horror and the big reveal at the end that was the core of the original Lovecraft story fell flat. The horror aspect to a major back seat here to its loss. Music, acting and sound effects all spot on as usual for the genre.
