In the UK, someone is reported missing every 90 seconds.
Just gone. Vanished. In the blink of an eye.
DCS Kat Frank knows all about loss. A widowed single mother, Kat is a cop who trusts her instincts. Picked to lead a pilot programme that has her paired with AIDE (Artificially Intelligent Detective Entity) Lock, Kat's instincts come up against Lock's logic. But when the two missing person's cold cases they are reviewing suddenly become active, Lock is the only one who can help Kat when the case gets personal.
AI versus human experience.
Logic versus instinct.
With lives on the line can the pair work together before someone else becomes another statistic?
In the Blink of an Eye is a dazzling debut from an exciting new voice and asks us what we think it means to be human.

I watched the show‘ between the covers’ & although I probably wouldn’t have chosen this book (because of the genre) without the recommendation I am so glad i did…. A bit different but in a good way
A different concept of a book and good narrator to tell the story. Not too taxing and both funny and tragic in parts. Worth a try.

Great story, too much swearing
Well written and intriguing. Sadly the lead character swears a lot, otherwise I’d recommend widely

Hope there is more!
Brilliant take on the buddy cop genre. fully fledged story with space to grow. Genuinely made me laugh and cry at various points. Real heart to it and the characters surrounding the main protagonists have a good feel too with the option of their backstory being expanded in the future - hopefully!

Interesting concept
A good solid police procedural/thriller.
The concept of AI helping with Police investigations was an interesting one. The author clearly had researched the topic well as this showed in the way Locke was portrayed.
I did get an inkling about Kat's son becoming "involved", this didn't spoil my enjoyment of the plot, I was happy that my guess was right.
The characters of the police were well fleshed out and believable, each having their own unique issues which added to setting this up as a possible series if the author decides to do this. I would happily continue reading such a series to see how the AI unit progresses and how it would work with future investigations.
Highly recommended.
