Superb listening
You don't get quality like Anthony Clare any more - God rest his soul. This is top drawer listening for anyone interested in what makes us all tick. Clare is gently probing and unearths great insight and candour from his guests. A master of his craft, and a delight to listen to.

A great interviewer
In these episodes Anthony Clare shows himself to be a perceptive and intelligent interviewer, and a good listener. He coaxes his subjects into revealing their inner selves with sensitivity, humour and understanding.

Interesting peek into some lives during the early 90s
I enjoyed this vintage bbc production though occasionally it felt a little dated - though this made it quite interesting! Enjoyed Spike Milligan and Maya Angelou was wonderful

What an odious little man
There is only one good interview here - the one with Maya Angelou and that is entirely due to her charisma as a person and nothing to do with the nasty Anthony Clare who mercilessly hectors his female guests whilst all of his interminably dull male guests are taken at face value. I couldn’t even finish listening to his final “interview” - interrogation would be a better description! The only good thing about this is realising that women have it slightly better now than they did when this unpleasant man was considered worth listening to. Maya Angelou shines and only because the sheer weight of her personality renders Clare redundant.
