Summary

Beginnings, middles and ends; Peggy, Serena, Natasha and Bel. This is the room that binds them, this is how consequences work...

In deepest Cornwall, the mansion Kittiwake has seen many pass through its doors since it was bought by American heiress Peggy Carmichael seventy years ago.

Over the decades, the keys have been handed down through the family, and now it belongs to Bel's adoptive brother, Lance. It's where he'll be celebrating his fiftieth birthday, and Bel is invited.

But Bel barely feels like she's holding it together as it is, and in going back to Kittiwake, she will be returning to the place where it all began - where, following the death of a child, a sequence of events was set in motion, the consequences of which are still rippling down through the generations...

From Sunday Times bestselling author Jenny Eclair comes an utterly compelling novel of family secrets that will stay with you long after it's finished.

Superb

I absolutely loved this audible book even though I have read the kindle version. I had forgotten so much and the author brought it to life. I did shed a tear or two too but laughed as well.

heart wrenching and darkly funny

such a wonderfully beautiful, human story. Stromg female characters, told across generations examining class war and what it means to be an English white woman. Highly recommended it

a wonderful story

I loved this book from start to finish. the plot is moving, intriguing, and very funny. I loved the characters and it was a nostalgic look back for me as I grew up in the 60's 70's. it's a richly woven story beautifully narrated by Jenny herself. I was completely thrown by the ending. Did not see it coming at all. I highly recommend this wonderful book.

Very entertaining!

I don’t often listen to fiction, but being a bit of a fan of Jenny Eclair I decided to give this book a go.
Not disappointed. Very entertaining. The author starts the narration a little bit too enthusiastically though in Chapter 1 - but this settles down nicely thereafter. Well done Jenny Eclair.
