About this listen
This story is written through the eyes of Jacob, an eight-week old border collie. At only eight weeks old, he was taken away from his Mum to start a whole new life, but sadly he fell into the hands of a bully. Jacob’s Journal will take you through the first year of his life. There will be laughter, tears, and heartbreak along the way. Will Jacob have a happy ending?
The motto of this story is never give up on a rescue dog.

Dog lovers
Very sad beginning but once through that, an uplifting read, though I did shed a tear! Great book for anyone interested in taking in/re-homing a dog

Excellent
This was hard to listen to at the beginning but sadly dogs are abused by some people that don't understand why dogs act the way they do. I'm so glad that Jacob gone 2 loving people to care for him in the end. Sadly dog's aren't with us long enough yet they teach us a great deal.

Incredibly moving
The story of Jacob was incredibly moving and as a dog lover it tugged at my heartstrings.
I loved that the novel was written through the eyes of Jacob.
I listened to this on audible and it was excellently narrated by Andrew James Roberts who brought to life the feelings and emotions of Jacob.
Listening to Inside a Dog's Mind emphasised how important it is to ensure a pup is given to a good home , and how by adopting a rescue dog you can change a dog's life.
I highly recommend this book.

This book has a big impact..excellent
I loved this book...I am so glad Jacob got a good ending and I love the way Michelle showed how the new adopters perseverance and training paid off...This book sadly highlights how dogs can be misunderstood when they are the subject of neglect and abuse...I am just relieved that there are people like Michelle to advocate for such dogs... a very sad , harrowing story...but one where patience, compassion and understanding eventually over ride. Well done Michelle..

Inside a Dog's Mind: Jacob's Journal
By: Michelle Holland
As an owner of a rescue dog I was in tears listening to this book, apart from the car incident I imagine my fur baby went through a similar ordeal. I guess a lot of animals do.
I enjoyed listening from the dogs point of view and how everyday things affected him in the future. The story is well written and although sad, it does have some humour.
The narrator made me feel as if it was actually Jacob talking, making it a brilliant and delightful listen.
Anyone who loves dogs should read/listen to this book as there are also some great dog training tips
The poem at the end, with a few slight changes, could have been written for my dog, so moving.
(I was given this book, at my request, for free in exchange for an honest review, good or bad)

lovely story
As an owner of 3 very loving dogs , I found this story quite emotional, but with a happy ending.
Well worth a listen and does make you think as to why a dog does something strange sometimes .
I think more chicken is required in my dogs diet . I wouldnt be without my 3 and hate the way some people treat dogs so badly , but Jacob with half a tail your smile shines through .

I loved it!
The first part is quite hard to listen to, partly because for some dogs, that is their life and it is heartbreaking.
I liked the way the author got into the mind of a young dog and voiced his thoughts and feelings. It reminded me a bit of the W. Bruce Cameron books (as it is narrated by a dog) so the format felt familiar.
If you have your own dog it will definitely make you want to hug him closer and buy him lots of chicken!
The narrator, Andrew James Roberts, was great at being a dog.
