About this listen

'A funny, relatable read with some surprise twists' STYLIST
DEFINITELY OLDER. NOT NECESSARILY WISER...
Sisters Cleo and Robyn may be close in age but their attitudes to life could not be further apart. While Cleo's a fully-fledged adult with a family, a business and a signature scent, Robyn is still waiting for the instruction manual to Adult Life and success is keeping her houseplant alive. Skating by at her job as an estate agent, she's adept at avoiding housework, ignoring admin, and evading her mother's anxious questions about her love life. But then Robyn's fired in the most publicly humiliating way imaginable - and her chaos catches up with her.
Although Cleo steps in to give Robyn a temporary job in her cleaning firm, it comes with very firm instructions: Robyn must BEHAVE RESPONSIBLY. And that includes meeting the high standards of Jim, her enigmatic supervisor. But when Robyn learns to navigate the catastrophic kitchens and judgemental dogs of total strangers she learns some unexpected truths about her own messy world. No one's life is spotless...
Is it time - finally - for everyone to stop sweeping their secrets under the carpet?©2024 Lucy Dillon (P)2024 Hodder & Stoughton Limited

Another Lucy Dillon heartwarmer
Oh how I wish I lived in Longhampton! I love these books and this one doesn’t disappoint. Great story and neuroaffirming too

Expert storytelling, beautifully narrated.
Lucy Dillon has a rare skill for writing characters that feel so real they could be in the room with you, each fully rounded, likeably flawed and on a bumpy, twisty, liberating journey to self-discovery. Robyn in Irresponsible Adults is brought to life brilliantly by Karen Cass in this narration, her anxieties and chaos oh-so-familiar. Her journey to make sense of life, love, family, cleaning and keeping pot plants alive will stay with me for a long time; I miss her and her family already.
This warm-hearted, clever and compassionate novel was pure joy from start to finish.

Great story
This is a really lovely story. Lucy takes her plots a little bit deeper than some of the other “ fluffy“ books out there.
Some great characters, making it a really heartwarming read. I enjoyed the tips at the start of each chapter.
Really well narrated

Complicated but real characters.
I fluctuated between relating to and being irritated by the main characters but by the end I was fully invested. Loved the ending.

Great books
The Story was great but most of all the narrator Karen Cass is the best in audible I hace read most of the books narrated by her.

not LucyDillon-like
I had to check that I hadn't accidentally picked the wrong author. The story was so predictable, full of clichés, cheesy, and the main character was made so stupid, that several times I thought of leaving the book midway. So far I have really enjoyed Lucy Dillons books. They are sweet, but enjoyable and ... intelligent. This one was unfortunately a real disappointment.

The best thing is the narrator
Did not like the main character and the story was very predictable. Karen Cass however can pep up any story with her brilliant narration
