About this listen
Have you heard of the Ultimate Appraiser?
Melchior was a guy who always wanted to leave home.
Then one day, he got his wish and was transported to the world of Maestros. He liked the place, so he took advantage of his cheat-level abilities and settled down there, intent on leading a quiet and profitable life.
Time passed.
Nowadays, Melchior's a guy who lives under the radar, traveling from place to place, plundering dungeons, making money, and visiting his favorite people. Armed with his completely unfair [Appraisal] ability, no other Appraiser can compare to him. His income is the most secure and certain thing in Maestros.
But Maestros is an ever-changing world, one populated by humans blessed by gods themselves, the Masters. Dangerous power and new sources of revenue are always appearing. If it stopped there, Melchior would be happy, but a great shift is on the horizon, one that might actually harm Melchior's business and partners.
The forces of fate are moving, but Melchior is the one person they should never oppose, lest he shows them just why he is the Ultimate Cheat Appraiser.

Masterful
Sorry for the pun but the Master tablet magic system is absolutely brilliant, honestly it's like an old school battle anime ability. This is a pretty solid book, good writing and narration. My only concern is that the story almost feels like it's missing a few chapters explaining how the MC arrived in his world and how he met his friends, I hope there's more of that later on in the series as I do enjoy reading the MC's struggles. His appraisal skill is pretty useful and makes a great money making tool.
I would have given it a 4.5 for the story due to as mentioned the lack of details of his arrival in the world but since there's no option for that I just rounded up to 5 as I must admit it was interesting just jumping in on an already developed situation.

great start.
the series is off to a great start. it reminds me of the cheat potion maker due to its slice of life elements, though it has considerably more action to it. Really enjoyed the book, and Erin Bateman was amazing as ever.

Another good story from Sebastian Guzman
This is the 4th series I have either read or listened to by Sebastian Guzman and really enjoyed this one.
I think i prefer My Cottage Was Transferred to Another World as of this moment but this would be a close second if I were to rank all 4 of his series as i'm a sucker for the Isekai trope.
Hopefully we get a second installment soon.

Amazing
I love this magic system, with the different types of gems and how they are affecting each other based on alignment, really cool. Writing was a bit confusing to me at the beginning, fun tho. Also, a great performance by Erin Bateman!

Incredibly mundane
This starts in the middle of ‘action’ and you have no idea who the characters are, there is little to know world building and a bored and tired performance, it was a struggle to finish.

Extreme in medias res makes this a difficult read
We only really get to learn about the character's back story, powers and abilities, and motivations at the end which makes this entire book feel like a prologue.
Instead of starting off new relationships, there already established and barely influential to the story.
The introduction of an "end of the world" and big bad automatically disqualifies this story as being "slice of life" which is just as well given this story is actually "slow life of wandering..." instead... :/
I kinda get the sense the author was fooling around with new structures and techniques, but were pretty jarring and prevented me from forming any strong emotional connections with any of the characters.
Erin Bateman's performance was mid.
