Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Ivy and Abe by Elizabeth Enfield, read by Cassidy Janson.

Meet Ivy and Abe. Childhood friends in the 1960s, Ivy and Abe were inseparable until a chance event tore them apart. Now in their early 70s, fate once again brings them together - both grey-haired, Ivy hand in hand with her grandson - to fill in the gaps of one another's lives. Each has experienced great passions as well as heartbreaking tragedies, but the time is finally right for them.

Their love story seems, in the end, meant to be. But what if, in a parallel universe, chance had intervened and they'd met sooner? What if they'd met in their 40s, both married to other people, and began an affair? What if they'd met before then and married, but the daunting question mark over Ivy's health had suffocated Abe's love for her? What if, as lovestruck teenagers, one small moment had sealed their fate?

Ivy and Abe is a stunning novel about the different paths our lives might follow and the different people we might become along the way.

enjoyable and thought provoking, What if story!

If you could sum up Ivy and Abe in three words, what would they be?

Fate, What-if, One-day!
If you believe that there is that one special person in the whole world that you are meant to be with, you will love this story, It is Serendipity and Sliding Doors but in an everyday, anybody way. I did find things a little confusing to start with, but as the chapters went on, threads appeared and it all ties up neatly in the end.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ivy and Abe?

I loved the start, I really thought that this was going to be the whole story, only for it to end quickly, and start all over again, and again and again.

Have you listened to any of Cassidy Janson’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Beautifully read, though this book did not play well in the car, when I found I couldnt hear it as clearly as I have with other books.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

When Abe met Ivy, again....and again...and again!

Any additional comments?

only the bit about the car, I was disappointed as I love listening while I am driving, and this was difficult to hear.
