About this listen
Stalker Kai Gracen knew his human upbringing would eventually clash with his elfin heritage, but not so soon. Between Ryder, a pain-in-his-neck sidhe lord coaxing him to join San Diego’s Southern Rise Court, and picking up bounties for SoCalGov, he has more than enough to deal with. With his loyalties divided between the humans who raised him and the sidhe lord he’s befriended and sworn to protect, Kai finds himself standing at a crossroads.
When a friend begs Kai to rescue a small group of elfin refugees fleeing the Dusk Court, he’s pulled into a dangerous mission with Ryder through San Diego’s understreets and the wilderness beyond. Things go from bad to downright treacherous when Kerrick, Ryder’s cousin, insists on joining them, staking a claim on Southern Rise and Kai.
Burdened by his painful past, Kai must stand with Ryder against Kerrick while facing down the very court he fears and loathes. Dying while on a run is expected for a Stalker, but Kai wonders if embracing his elfin blood also means losing his heart, soul, and humanity along the way.

Return to Kai Gracen
I can’t help but listen to this over and over again. I love to become immersed in this merged world of humans and elfin. There’s sadness, excitement and emergent love here. This is a well crafted story in a world which we might experience one day, who knows? Greg Tremblay does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. The story is well paced with characters you will love and some you will hate. We meet some new and very strange monsters as well as the old favourites. I was on the edge of my seat many times so grab some tissues and some smiles and hang on for the ride.

Great series
Really enjoyed this and can’t wait for the next one to come out. I wish I discovered the series when loads of books had been released already instead of having to (I’m)patiently wait for the next one. I love Faith Hunter and Ilona Andrews books, and I love this series for the same reasons as those.

Up with the best urban fantasy available in audio.
5* on everything, this series just keeps getting better. It's up there with Faith Hunter's Jane Yellowrock, as one of my all-time favourite urban fantasy series and like JY, the audio has one of the best narrators in the business. It's just as hard to put down the second time listening.
This is predominantly a great fantasy series, with imaginative world building and interesting characters which has a sweet (so far non graphic) slow burn romance between the two male main characters. It's a real shame that being tucked away in the Gay & Lesbian category, it doesn't seem to have reached many of the wider fantasy audience, many of whom I think would equally enjoy it.
