About this listen

What does it mean to be a Kennedy? If ever three women would be challenged and changed by marriage into a family, it would be Jacqueline Bouvier, Ethel Skakel, and Joan Bennett. None of these radiant brides could have ever been prepared for the fame, the family, and tragedies that would spring from their lives. As they struggled to cope with their husbands' infidelities, the harsh glare of the media, and the assassinations of John and Robert Kennedy, these women would learn what it meant to be sisters, reaching out to one another with comfort and consolation. But these sisters would also compete with one another, argue, and find themselves estranged, sometimes for years.

Based on extensive research, interviews, and never-before-published oral histories from the JFK and LBJ Libraries, this groundbreaking biography presents a balanced, affectionate, and fascinating portrayal of three extraordinary women - and shows us their courage, passion, and will to be a family.

The Camelot wives.

A book well grounded in historical fact which, unfortunately, was on the dry side. An excellent narrator who provided good character definition with out using a strange falsetto voice. Overall I would suggest that this book is worth listening too with evidence to show these three women in a powerful but companionate light.

To the point

Balanced to the point. It seemed Ethel was thwarted on all sides from ever entering the White House as First Lady. I wonder would she consider this a fair account.. Would have liked to have heard more of their lives after their husbands' assassinations

A really interesting perspective

The lives of these women were joined by chance, this book is the truth, yet is very fresh to read/listen to. Very well narrated, I would recommend buying the kindle version to read with it.
