About this listen
One night can change the whole world.
At 25, Jaime Wheeler hasn't met anyone who makes him sit up and take notice. Then he sees the beautiful Sawyer Beaux. And wants him.
Between the bubbly champagne and the tequila courage, Jaime takes a chance, and Sawyer says yes.
One night leaves them both wanting more.
Jaime's world crashes when he returns home, and he has to fix it. Can Sawyer accept what Jaime must do, or will Old-World Pride Law tear them apart?

MM Shifter series
Short, sharp intro to new MM shifter series
Good world-building, a new shifter world full of lions.
Second book of the series. And I'm invested. The characters are developing well, although there are a lot of characters to keep up with. Jamie and Sawyer are the main characters of this book.
After the first book, I was confused and overwhelmed, but this subsided with this book.
I am looking forward to book three.
Lance West was a pleasure to listen to, clean and concise. I speed this narration up to 1.35 on Audible, which is usual for me.

I was confused
This was my first listen in the Fire Ridge Pride Series, and I thought it was a standalone story, but I think it really is not. I enjoyed Jaime and Sawyer, but I felt I was missing necessary background about the prides, and the side characters were so numerous and hard to keep track of. I spent so much time trying to figure out who was who and the politics of the mating arrangements that I feel I missed some of the story. It seemed more about these machinations and less about Jaime and Sawyer. The final bit with Red at the end seemed sudden, violent, and I wasn't sure exactly why it happened. Maybe if I had started at the beginning of the series it would have been better. The narration was good and really suited the characters and story.
I received a free copy of the audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Complex MM shifter world
I really enjoy the Fire Ridge Pride books so far, but I should admit the first chapter of them I spend the whole time going 'huh' 'who?' 'what?'. There is SO much in them, way more than you'd expect for a short book. So many names to track, allegiances and families to understand, it is more than a bit confusing, and like book one (no spoilers!) there's some very sudden, very brutal violence in there which took me by surprise. BUT once that washes over you the book is an enjoyable read. I loved the main characters and enjoyed their wildfire-speed romance. The narration is great, well paced and with a lovely southern accent that really suits the story.

Jaime & Sawyer
For me it was the first book in the series and it would probably have been better if I had read or listened to volume 1 first. There are a lot of characters and sometimes I felt like I was missing one or two pieces of information.
Despite the teething problems, I found the story entertaining. Sawyer is just delightful and made me smile from time to time.
I liked most of the characters and Jaime and Sawyer are really cute together. And now I'm curious about the next volume.
Lance West did a great job bringing the story and world to life. He read the two main protagonists in such a way that I always knew from whose point of view the story was being told.

So good
I’m usually the first to admit I use audiobooks to keep me entertained when I’m bored doing chores but this one does require a bit more attention than normal. There are a lot of side characters. However that being said this is a really entertaining listen and the narration gives so much. I don’t think it was possible to find a better narrator.

After one night
Okay, there is a lot going on in this book. Jaime and Sawyer spend one night together – off the page – and they’re together. Like, forever. Okay. But then there was Bobbi Jo and her baby. And about a dozen other characters I struggled to keep straight in my mind. I listened to book 1 in the series, Lou, and quite enjoyed it. I did this one too, although I admit I had a bigger struggle.
I think this series has potential, but keeping up with all the pack politics is tricky. I listened for the romance and didn’t get a lot of that, although the movie night date was cute.
Lance West is a solid narrator and I’ll definitely listen if there are more books coming out on audio.
