Misleading title. Bad writing. Unbearably narrated

I don't know where to begin. The title of the book is straightforward. Japanese Woodworking. One might assume the book is primarily a guide to Japanese woodworking. In this case, one would be wrong. The opening chapters do cover some very basic aspects of the history of woodworking in Japan and Japanese woodworking tools, but to be honest, wikipedia may be more informative. I was hopeful when I read in the description, "Step-by-step instructions to help you master the art of Japanese joinery from making simple joints to more advanced woodworking tactics" This section does not exist. What you get instead is a general list of the standard joints of western joinery along with poorly written generic instructions, interspersed with gems like "the dovetail is the most superior joint." Really? ...supeior for what? Why would you want to use this joint over another? When might you want to choose a different joint instead? It seems clear to me that the author, far from being an authority on Japanese Woodworking as one might assume, has in fact no expertise in woodworking at all. Could be a nice book if it were written by an authority rather than a ghost writer churning out "books" as fast as they can. More accurately this is an essay that blatantly fails to fulfil its stated objective.

As for the narration, it is just unbearable. Poor pacing, mispronunciation, misreading... its all there. Unbearable

Will be returning this title for a refund. Don't waste your time or money. You will find a quick internet search will be far more informative.

Japanese wood workers turn in graves.

I so wanted to enjoy this, but alas the narration killed it for me.
Did the narrator of this book receive a formal education?
Very possibly some of the worst narrative I've heard to date.
Do not waste your hard earned money on this DRIVEL.
