About this listen

The pack is a wreck, and everything is falling apart.

Libby can’t stand to watch her cousin let everything go, including his self-confidence. But when she stumbles upon a man near death, her priorities change as she realizes he is her mate. Libby will do anything to save him, even if it means betraying those close to her. She knows Fate wouldn’t be so cruel as to send her the other half of her soul, only to make her lose him.

When the local tribe realizes the dragon they thought was dead is not only alive, but possessed by a demon who wants nothing more than to rip their world apart, they band together to send the demon back to hell. Can the dragons forgive Libby’s deceit long enough to put their town back to rights, or will they take justice into their own hand?

Jaz knows he’s royally screwed up. Nothing can take back the pain he’s dealt out around him. When he wakes up to find himself still alive and in surprisingly good health, he takes it as a sign that he needs to do better, but when he finds out that the feisty little she-wolf who saved him is his mate, he doesn’t know what to do.

He’s never liked wolves, and he sure as hell never expected to be mated to one. But can he fight his attraction and overcome the odds that hold them apart, or the bigger question...Does he want to?

Stratham Shifters... the plot thickens

First off, while this book is theoretically stand-alone, it is probably best to read the books in the series in order. There are events that are mentioned in this book, that are best read to fully understand the overall series plot development.

While each audiobook is short, the overriding plot is quite complex. It has magic, mates, full blooded dragon shifters, half blooded dragon shifters, a dragon council that may be corrupt, wolf shifters, demons, dragon kings, and so on. Each book is building towards a war that is hinted at and Stratham appears to be the nexus.

In earlier audiobooks, Jaz was the enemy. He was sent by the dragon council to eliminate the dragons on Statham. The book starts with Libby, a wolf shifter and cousin to her pack's Alpha, finding Jaz almost dead. In that moment she realises two things, Jaz is surrounded by fading demon magic and he is her fated mate.

It takes weeks for Jaz to awaken but when he does there is a lot to do. Or perhaps undo is the correct word before Libby and Jaz can enjoy being mates. Jaz was the enemy and now he is the essential key to getting rid of the body-jumping demon on the loose.

This books is a quick and easy audiobook to listen to. Individually, the books are good but I think the real interesting part will be the overall plot and how that develops further. Sarah J. Stone liked to give her characters multi-dimensional hurdles to overcome. The issues are personal and they affect the growing paranormal community but most importantly they actually strengthen rather than weaken the characters.
