About this listen
Three most unusual murders, a portal to a ghostly realm, and tea sandwiches dressed to impress!
When Jessie and her friends witness the grisly aftermath of three unusual murders, they enter a realm unlike any they've ever known in search of answers. Jessie's still getting used to seeing her dear departed mother and Granny in spirit form, along with the neighboring shape shifter. However, three mysterious doorways in the Inn's basement promise more adventure, more mystery, and more newly-discovered abilities.
Will Jessie, her friends Cammy Jo and Ginny, her little Beagle Arthur, and some help from Granny be enough to solve the crime, or will they be lost forever in the Sanctum of Shadows?

Keep out of the shadows
For the most part I did enjoy this book. It was too confusing at the start being introduced to so many characters all at once and most of them were side characters away. In fact I had to go back to the beginning to try and get them all straight before the mystery got going. Also with time travel or portals I got lost keeping everybody striaght (or at least who was connected to each other) but once I decided to sit back and just enjoy it -without working out who the killer was I enjoyed the unusualness of the story a lot more. The characters were interesting from a paranormal perspective and I liked the main trio and ghostly grandma. Maybe if I had started with the first book it would have been easier to follow.
I am not sure the narrator helped, too many of the characters sounded the same and I found my mind wandered. Normally the narrator is entertaining but I think I couldn't switch from the last book I heard her read to these characters.
When a replica pirate ship arrives in town it brings three hung men swinging from the mast and a missing man. When her friends finance missing and a strange feel to the investigation Jessie knows the police won't be able to solve the murder in there usual way. Joined by her friends, the trio aided by the ghost of her Grandmother and her loyal dog lead to the basement of the tea room in search of the shadow lands, pirates and a missing man. Not everything is As it seems in the shadow lands and by entering the portal they head into an adventure that they might not come back from.
