About this listen
'Today is the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. More difficult, more painful, less joyful, less full of love. I and Jo's friends and family are going to work every moment of our lives to love and nurture our kids and to fight against the hate that killed Jo. Jo believed in a better world and fought for it every day of her life with an energy and a zest for life that would exhaust most people.'
In the aftermath of Jo Cox's tragic death in 2016, her husband, Brendan Cox, urged us to remember Jo's life and what she stood for and not the manner of her death.
In this moving and impassioned portrait of Jo - as daughter, mother, wife, sister, MP and activist - we see how much she gave and how much more she had to give, and her legacy of values and beliefs which will live on.

Very Moving
Would you consider the audio edition of Jo Cox to be better than the print version?
I have not seen the print version.
What did you like best about this story?
Its a Family story - with the usual highs and lows of busy family life but including an intense personal tragedy - Jo's Murder. The narrative is constructed to inform so that we do not suffer more shock than is necessary. The experiences of the grieving family give a good example of how to involve children in the grief to give them the best chance of being able to cope in later life.
I would like to hear the story of the next 20 years, maybe in 5 year blocks, but don't expect that any of it will be published for at least a generation so that this family may have the privacy all families deserve while they are growing up.
What does Luke Thompson and Heather Long bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
It is good to actually "hear" the story as if Brendon himself is reading it. The narration is very clear.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Many moments moved me to tears.

Well written account of her life but also the aftermath of her murder and how her family is dealing with the grief. Great book about an incredible woman.
