About this listen
If you want to discover the captivating life of John Adams, then pay attention....
John Adams once wrote, “People and nations are forged in the fires of adversity.” That was very much Adams’ experience. Although he was often maligned, he didn’t deserve it. Having been born in the English colony of Massachusetts in 1735, he not only witnessed a new nation emerging from the shell of infancy, but he also participated in its growing pains. Adams was a man who was frequently asked to assume roles in which he had little experience, like that of a diplomat to France and England. In a sense, he was a part of the vanguard that the government had thrown into the fray.
But why would the government choose him to represent their interests? Perhaps the main reason was that John Adams was a lawyer and understood the legal significance of treaties and agreements. He was also a simple and objective man who knew how to get to the heart of an issue in quick order.
In John Adams: A Captivating Guide to an American Founding Father Who Served as the Second President of the United States of America, you will discover topics such as:
- John Adams: political activist
- From counsel to patriot
- The Second Continental Congress
- John Adams: diplomat & constitutionalist
- John Adams: Vice President and then President under the new Constitution
- To Fight or Not to Fight: The quasi-war
- 1800: The politics of dissension
- John Adams: His thoughts and retirement
- And much, much more!

Good
A dazzling and expertly investigated audible from the author who makes you feel that you’re walking every step of the life of the great man John Adams. Whereas there is hardly too much force on the lives and actions of his family and fellow politicians there is no doubt this is a very classic political biography that explains the amazing and brave lives these USA forefathers led.

A biographical tour
Resolute, angry, a man of letters, and a workaholic for the American cause, Adams was tailor-made for historical biography. In Captivating History, we have one of the few biographers who can do such a titan, justice.

Excellent Book
So it is much more than just a political biography. This is a work of art, taking us into all that was going in and around the Adams family. And as with all great art while there is no polemic, nevertheless it is impossible not to draw some moral lessons from the lives as they are drawn on the author's canvas.

lots of info
John Adams appears to be the "forgotten" founding father, taking a backseat to Washington and Jefferson. I had nevermore know much of anything about John Adams and his role in America's founding and early history and after learning this book I have a new appreciation for what a major giver John A. was.

Brilliant history
I couldn't stop listening to it down and told there was more of it when I stopped. John Adams has become one of my heroes, even though, or maybe because, I am English.

Insightful
This is an especially excellent biography, one reason from many is that the author paints his scenes with such a wealth of detail that you feel you are there and can hear their voices.

Really happy with this audible
The issues of women's rights, slavery, military strength, the economy, migration are all moved on as they had the forethought to know what was coming. I wish more people were serving in public office today like those founders and particularly John Adams.
