About this listen

If you start at the beginning of the New Testament and read straight through, first you’ll find three similar accounts of Jesus’ life. Then you come to the gospel of John. From recounting Jesus’ signs to recording His famous I am statements, John puts a spotlight on Jesus’ redemptive work so that others will believe and be saved. In this volume, Dr. R.C. Sproul provides an introduction to John in his accessible, conversational style. Each chapter is packed with insights and exhortations to draw you closer to the life and light of the Savior.

Dr. Sproul’s expositional commentaries help you understand key theological themes and apply them to all areas of your life. Drawn from decades of careful study and delivered from a pastor’s heart, these sermons are readable, practical, and thoroughly Bible-centered. Here is your opportunity to learn from a trusted teacher and theologian as he leads you through God’s Word and shares his perspective on living faithfully for God’s glory. This is a series to serve pastors, small groups, and growing Christians who want to know the Bible better.

Well worth listening to, even if you know it well.

This is a useful close reading of St John. The author who is a committed Catholic Priest, committed to Jesus and what the gospel text actually says to free us forever. Listening will very likely bring you new insights. His love for the Biblical Jesus shines through. It is sincere. It is a cold, clear view from the author, which I respect. It is a rational clear, biblical post Vatican 2 view I think, but avoiding, many modernist trends which make Jesus all things to all men: the way of the biblical Jesus is a truly difficult path. The chalenge: if you Love Jesus, as a 'person' of God truly, and do what he said why would you choose to sin? I confess I fall short of this. Also, if you Love Our Lady, and rely on her Perpetual Virginity, you will find in here a more modern, (post Vatican 2) and perhaps biblical reading, which seems to consider Our Lady as Mother of God, but also as a married woman of further children. Don't be put off from this, just ask the Holy Spirit to hear through your ears, and ask God to give you the 'True truth'. Just let your ears be totally open, and hear. How can that harm us if we Love Jesus? Nothing separated from God can harm us . I commend this reading to you, I have learned much from it: author, I thank God in you. Truly, Father, thank you.
