Rebecca Gablé setzt mit ihrer Hüter-der-Rose-Saga ein weiteres Denkmal für die englischen Rosenkriege. Zudem ist ihr Roman eine Fortsetzung der Waringham-Saga, nur dass sich dieses Mal alles um John, den jüngsten Spross von Robin of Waringham dreht. Im ersten Teil geht es vor allem um die Sturm-und-Drang-Zeit des jüngsten Waringham-Sohnes: Als John erfährt, dass für ihn eine kirchliche Laufbahn vorgesehen ist, begehrt der 13jährige Junge auf und geht nach Winchester an den Hof König Henrys V. Dort angekommen macht John nicht nur eine erstaunliche Karriere, sondern ist schon bald in den Krieg gegen Frankreich involviert...

One book is one credit, isn't it? It isn't!

I am not going to start to write about the performance (*sigh* it is great), or the story (probably nice, I don't know, I was only able to listen to a third of it), but I will explain why I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. Or let me be clear - why I wouldn't recommend anyone to get this book on audible (but yeah, probably get the real book, the printed one and read it yourself or ask someone to read it to you, if you prefer audiobooks).

"Der Hüter der Rose 1". Well it's the first book of a series, you might think. Of the Warringham series to be more specific. Weird, isn't it supposed to be the second book of the series? You are right! the "1" in "Der Hüter der Rose 1" means you get only a third of a book this time. If you want to get the full story, get part 2 and 3 for another 2 credits. This is bad. This is worse than asking directly for 3 credits for the whole book ("but like this I can easier decide if this book is right for me!?" you might say, and yes, but also no - like this you will end up paying 3 credits, thinking you would only pay 1).
It's fraud. Shame on you audible!
