About this listen

Honoria Smythe-Smith, the youngest daughter of the eldest son of the Earl of Winstead, plays the violin in the annual musicale performed by the Smythe-Smith quartet. She's well aware that they are dreadful. In fact, she freely admits (to her cousins) that she is probably the worst of the bunch. But she's the sort who figures that nothing good will come of being mortified, so she puts on a good show and laughs about it.

Marcus Holroyd is the best friend of Honoria's brother Daniel, who lives in exile out of the country. He's promised to watch out for Honoria and takes his responsibility very seriously. But he has his work cut out for him when Honoria sets off for Cambridge determined to marry by the end of the season. She's got her eye on the only unmarried Bridgerton, who's a bit wet behind the ears. When her advances are spurned, can Marcus swoop in and steal her heart in time for the musicale?

Such a sweet story

When you read/listen to a few of Julia Quinn’s books, you kind of know how the story will go :) however, that doesn’t stop me to smile, frown and live with the new characters every single time! Another beautiful story, performed brilliantly by Rosalyn Landor

Marvellous characterisation

I liked the development of the love story between Onaria and the Bridgerton who finally expressed his feelings for her which matched hers

A lovely....

Storyline from start to finish with some great characters and antics within the book. The narrator was very good at using different voices for the characters.

4.5 Smythe-Smith Musicale Stars

'Just Like Heaven' is the first book of The Smythe-Smith series by Julia Quinn.

Honoria Smythe-Smith is one of the eponymous Smythe-Smith cousins who entertain the Ton every year with their famous musicale.

The musicale, and the necessity for marriage, are two issues that occupy Honoria's time and thoughts, that is until Marcus (the Earl of Chatteris) - her absent brother's best friend - finds himself in a dire situation and requires her help.

I found this audiobook to be very entertaining, engaging, and witty. The author is a master of creating brilliant characters who are charming, likeable, and intelligent. This audiobook has lively dialogue, an enjoyable plot, and characters who have a spark and a frisson. Honoria and Marcus made a perfect couple.

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. This is a feel-good novel with a satisfying conclusion. Rosalyn Landor's narration added greatly to my enjoyment of the story.
