Wegen "unsozialistischen Verhaltens" von der Schule geflogen, arbeitete sie zunächst als Bildredakteurin, Psychiatrie-Schwester und Schriftsetzerin, bis sie Anfang der 80er Jahre ihre Bestimmung im Schreiben fand und einem Exil in der Mongolei doch die Ausreise nach Westberlin vorzog.
