About this listen
Back again, I see. Well, you are in luck, for the story of, I, Detective Octavius Evander continues!
To start off on a positive note, prepare to be amazed as my precious human, Turney, falls into my hands! Okay, technically I already had my hands on him—all of him—but that didn't make him mine, mine. But now it is time to show how I captured his heart with my lovable personality. No doubt that my adorable and sparkly new hobby had something to do with it as well. But enough about the gooey emotions. On to the cases!
As there will be a new adventure or two with my team to entertain. Thought the adventures this time, well, not all end as pleasantly as one might hope. While, I would say to prepare for the return of old faces, none of you have seen them before. just know that their reappearance in my life leads to an unfortunate event. But in the paranormal world, fun and death go hand and hand do they not?
Content Warning: This is a M/M paranormal romance book that ends on a cliffhanger. There will be violence and a main character death—a temporary death.

Glitter bombs
I absolutely love being back with Octavius in all his glitter glory.
Sweet Turney has the patience of a saint to continue dealing with him.
There's more amazing world building and these two are so dang cute trying to tiptoe around their emotions and a relationship.
There's a scary nemesis after Octavius so of course there's plenty of action, danger and drama.
There's a cliffhanger that absolutely gutted me and I'm desperate to continue the series.
Lance West does an amazing job portraying these characters and bringing them to life.

Great listen with a cliffhanger!
I've been waiting to get this book in audio format because of how much I enjoyed the previous books narration. It didn't disappoint! Lance West does such a fantastic job with the source material. Honestly, the bat voice for Octavius is just too cute! No wonder Turney has such a problem saying no to the vampire.
This is part of a series and cannot be read/listened to as a standalone. It picks up from the previous book with Turney trying to decide about a future with Octavius and if he wants to enter the supernatural world to be with the man.
There is another investigation, but this one took the back seat to the relationship, which is the main reason that I rated it 4.5 overall. I kind of missed that aspect of the story, though I do understand why it was written this way.
Turney makes some important decisions in this book and I loved the growth from both main characters. I also enjoyed Scarlet and Ming-ji getting their own pov's and their potential romance.
That cliffhanger! Wow... I'm kind of torn on if I should just go ahead and read book 3 or torture myself by waiting on the audiobook because I just love listening to it.
It made me laugh and nearly made me cry. Well worth a listen.

love love love Grrrr
why Grrrr! I hate cliffhangers, and this one's a dooooooozy!
Some laugh out loud moments, cute cute cute moments and sexy times also, so I'll forgive the author. However this pair better get their HEA or I'm raiding Octavius' glitter room and glitter bombing someone's home.......

Better
So I labouriously finished my reread of the first book at 1 o'clock in the morning and I was like "What the heck, let's read the sequel!". I'm glad to say it was better than the first book! I still had some problems with it (the terms "the male", the characters having a juvenile behaviour sometimes...) but I enjoyed it more than the previous book. I also really liked the cliffhanger-yes I'll probably read the third book because of it.
