Sophie Rhodes doesn't have a choice. She's surrounded by them.
Desperate to pay the bills, 29-year-old Sophie ignores the advice of her stuffy spirit-friend, Marmaduke Dodsworth, and takes a job with the handsome Dr. Callahan, an optometrist with a desperate situation of his own. Keep this series going
Wow!! I loved the authors Barbara Marr series and even though this book sounded very different I thought I would give it ago (even if it was in the chick lit and romance category, definitely not my normal choice. So glad I did because I really enjoyed it and it is so much more than a romantic comedy. I loved the characters, especially Marmaduke the ghost and thought they worked well together and made for a very likeable team or should I same threesome. The book contains ghosts, witch craft, mystery and romance but is so much more than that and all of it cleverly crafted together to give you a fun and entertaining story. This is not your normal cozy mystery and even the place of employment (an eye doctors office- eye therapy) was an unusual and unique setting, even the ghost support group was fun. Definitely a series to keep an eye out for and one I will be getting when it comes to audible.
Sophie sees ghosts, well one in particular an Englishman called Marmaduke, so working in an optometrist seems the perfect to work, well at least it will pay the bills. The only problem is Dr Callahan can't keep his receptionist for longer than a few hours because he too has his own ghost scaring every one of them away. Can Sophie stick it out and find out what is troubling the ghost? Dr Cal is very easy on the eyes and Sophie finds herself fighting her attraction to him, every time she starts to get close his ghost throws a fit and things in the room start to fly. Is she jealous? Or is there more going on than meets the eye? To find out Sophie will have to work out who the ghost is and why she has attached herself to Dr Cal and hopefully before she sees off all his patients. And what about the young man that is seen hanging around the building? Is he connected or just trying to make some money by stealing equipment? Sophie and Cal attended a ghost help group but even that proves to be very unhelpful with calming the ghost down. What ever they are going to do they had better do it soon, otherwise Sophie might just lose more than a few patient's.
I really like the narrator and think she does a good job bringing the characters to life, even the dead ones.
