About this listen
Watch out for the Assassin’s Claws....
Dearil Moreno is a paid killer, just like his four brothers. It’s the family business - they fight together, they die together. Whether they’re working as a group or alone, they are a tight unit of people who protect their own. When the brothers learn a contract is available to assassinate a priest - a good man known to their family as someone who works with the underground to rescue omegas - they accept it with the intention of doing the exact opposite of what they’ve been hired to do.
Dearil is the brother known for two things...his sassy wardrobe and even sassier sense of snark. A true ginger, this omega isn’t afraid of anyone and has the attitude to prove it. When he agrees to take this mission, the last thing Dear expects is to discover the priest is also his true mate.
Father Nathaniel Clarence is about to retire from his parish on the island nation of Aurelia. He’s stunned when he scents his true mate during his final church service. The discovery that his mate is a hired killer here to rescue him is an interesting twist, but the one thing Nathaniel has in abundance is faith that everything will work out as it’s meant to.
Before the alpha will truly be safe, the Moreno brothers need to find out who hired them in the first place. As they travel across Europe in search of the truth, a 33-year-old mystery is solved, and the two men find that home really is where the heart is...and the fates don’t make mistakes. Not even when they pair a priest with an assassin.
This novella is the third book in the Assassin’s Claws series. Note: While mpreg exists in this world, we won’t have a birth in every book. This book contains killer cats, ninja bunnies, and a snarky omega who has no idea how to pray. Get ready for naughty-knotty fun and low-ball humor as only Susi Hawke can provide.

Kick Back by Susi Hawke (Assassin's Claws Book 3) This story develops nicely.
A good combination of world building and character development. I really enjoyed this story. Looking forward to the next book.
The Narrator Drew Bacca did a fantastic job bringing these characters and story to life.

Loved it!
I loved this sweet, snarky, and sexy fated mates story as Dearil and his brother set out to rescue a priest known to the family for saving omegas from being sold to the highest bidder. Someone unknown has put a contract on the priest. The Moreno's take the contract intending to not fulfill it and instead protect the priest while they look for the person who wants him dead. Then, Dearil discovers the priest, Nathaniel, is his fated mate, and the pursuit becomes personal.
I loved Dearil, from his fashion sense to his snark to his unorthodox friendship with rival assassin ninja bunny Gil and his brood. Dearil is not really a believer, and his inner conversations as he entered the church about being struck by lightning for cussing, lusting after a priest, etc. were hilarious. Nate was the perfect mate for Dearil, perfectly sweet, patient, and with unshakable faith in God's will. I loved his philosophy of leading by example, rather than trying to force his beliefs on others. This is a fun, no angst, quick listen, good for an evening's entertainment.
The narration by Drew Bacca was wonderful. I especially loved the light, lilting voice he gave Dearil.

Dear’s Turn
Book three picks up right where book two ended. It is because of this, and the continuing story arc, that I would recommend listening to this series in order. While parts of the story could stand alone, there are a lot of factors that would be confusing if you haven’t listened to book one and two, yet. It won’t be a hardship, as they are both entertaining and short listens. 🐰🎾
Dear is an omega, but he’s nothing to shrug off. He’s just as deadly of an assassin as his alpha brothers. His sense of humor is just as good, too. After all, he finds the irony, of an assassin and a man of God being fated mates, hilarious. I chuckled while he was waiting for lightning to strike. Nathanial, said priest, isn't one to argue fate’s plans, either. First, they must deal with the threat to Nate’s life, then they can pay fate their full attention. 🐰🎾
Susi Hawke’s sense of humor is evident, again, in this book. We haven’t seen the last of Sasha’s charm and wit, yet. I’m glad about that, because that boy is a keeper. This book was, again, a mix of corniness and hilarity. It also included Hawke’s magic touch that keeps you coming back for more. It was a fun story, and leaves me impatiently wanting to find out what happens next. 🐰🎾
While Kenneth Obi’s presence is missed, Drew Bacca did a wonderful job stepping up to the plate to continue the series. It’s big shoes to fill, but Drew has the chops to do it. He did a great job bringing this story to life, and giving voices to all of our beloved characters. 🐰🎾

Brilliant book in a great series
Dearil Moreno is a paid assassin, within the family business.
Takes on a job but it's to kill a priest, this just seemed all sorts of wrong to them, so he seeks him out to find out why he has a price on his head.
They realise that they are fated mates within seconds of seeing each other.
This book is a brilliant installment within the series, actually I haven't personally read a bad book by Susi, such an incredible writer. Would recommend it to everyone who likes Shifter books.

I love Dear and Nate ❤️
This was great. Drew did a great job with all the many characters. I especially loved this story because it really brings home the idea of a loving family. I read this book when it came out and it was just as good the second time. I can't wait for the next one!

Nathaniel and his Dearest!
The Story: Such a cute story. Nathaniel and Dear are a great fated mated couple even though you wouldn't expect it from assassin and priest. This story did kind of play out like a place holder in the series as there really wasn't much going on even with what was going on. (Sorry if that doesn't make sense). I'm looking forward to hearing what's next.
Fingers crossed for more ninja bunnies with the big b..... too funny!
Narrator: Even though it was a change made to continue the series, Drew Bacca did a good job keeping the pace of the story and having some distinctive voices.

Brill
This is a brilliant book and I loved how this was just meant to be a simple rescue but turned into a mating which led into more interesting places. All the characters are brill as they are brought to life by Drew the narrator. I can’t wait for the next book.

So incredible
Dear and Nathaniel's story starts when Dear joins his brothers to help his brother-in-law's friend stay alive. Then they realize they are mates and that's when things get interesting. Helping omegas that are in danger, family, and twists and turns make this story one that you will listen to without wanting to hit pause and find out what happens next.

An action packed new adventure on this series!
In this book 3, Dear and Nate finding each other is just the beginning of an action packed adventure where the brothers will fight for love and family. Mystery, intrigue, betrayal, many ninja bunnies and new friends, in between romance and hot scenes, complemented this story just fine. Hilarious and sweet, you'll enjoy It better if you read it in order after book 1 and 2. Of course, Mr Bacca’s performance and voice acting is a wonderful plus and made everything more enjoyable. Simply loved It!!
